Flagship Redmi Smartphone to Sport Snapdragon 855 SoC & 48MP Triple Cameras

Xiaomi’s Redmi will be launching its first ever flagship smartphone very soon in China. While the company already confirmed a few key features of the device, the leaks revealed even more details. The device was earlier rumored to be called as Redmi X, but the company denied those rumors. Now, the leaked image hints the device to be called as either Redmi K20 Pro or Redmi P20 Pro. However, there are also chances that it might be named as Redmi X20 Pro.
Talking about the specifications, the latest leaks confirm the device to come powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. It sports 6.39-inch full-screen display with no notch or bezels. It uses an AMOLED panel and also features an in-display fingerprint scanner. With this upcoming smartphone, we will be seeing both these features for the first time on a Redmi smartphone. Even the newly launched Redmi Note 7 Pro came with an IPS panel and rear-facing fingerprint scanner.
Talking about the cameras, the device sports triple camera setup on the rear and a pop-up selfie camera on the top. On the rear, we will be looking at a 48MP primary sensor along with an ultra-wide-angle sensor and a telephoto sensor. Coming to the pop-up camera, it comes with a 20MP sensor for capturing beautiful selfies. As seen on the other Redmi smartphones, the upcoming flagship smartphone from Redmi will also offer AI-based camera features like auto scene detection, AI beauty mode, AI Portrait mode, and more.
It will be backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery that also supports 27W fast charging. The company also mentioned it to support wireless charging. We expect it to support 20W wireless fast charging which was first introduced with the Mi 9 smartphone. The device will be running on Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI 10 out of the box. It is also confirmed to include 3.5mm audio jack and NFC support. With the NFC connectivity, the users in China can take advantage of Mi Pay.
The flagship Redmi smartphone will be competing with the Realme X Pro smartphone. It will also come powered by the Snapdragon 855 SoC and pop-up selfie camera. Realme already teased its new phone in the recently posted promotional video. Coming to the Redmi’s upcoming smartphone, it was spotted a couple of times in the hands of Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun and Redmi’s GM Lu Weibing. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
