Flagship Redmi Smartphone Officially Teased with a Pop-up Selfie Camera

Unlike in India, Redmi became an independent company in China. Earlier this year, the company also launched the Redmi-branded washing machine. From the last couple of months, we are seeing several leaks about the flagship Redmi smartphone. It will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform built on 7nm FinFET node. While it is also rumored to sport a pop-up selfie camera, Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing has earlier denied the rumors. Today, the company posted a video on Weibo teasing the flagship smartphone.

In the video, the device with a pop-up selfie camera and notch-less display can be seen at the end. Now, we can confirm the device allegedly spotted in the hands of Lei Jun and Lu Weibing to be the upcoming flagship smartphone from Redmi. In the coming weeks, Huawei and OnePlus will also launch smartphones with a pop-up selfie camera. Just like the Redmi Note 7 Pro, the upcoming smartphone will also come with a glass back body and should be available in gradient color options. Based on the leaks, the Redmi’s flagship smartphone will come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

However, we also expect the device to come in other storage variants as well. As seen on the Redmi Y3 smartphone, the flagship smartphone will also reportedly sport 32MP sensor for capturing selfies. On the rear, the company is expected to sport 48MP + 13MP + 8MP triple camera setup featuring Sony IMX586 sensor. The Redmi Note 7 Pro launched earlier this year is the most affordable smartphone to come with 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor. On the front, we might be looking at a 6.39-inch Full HD+ display with no notch or bezels.

Since the device is rumored to offer in-display fingerprint scanner, it could use the AMOLED panel instead of an IPS panel. It will be running on the latest Android 9.0 Pie based MIUI 10 out of the box. Redmi might launch the Avengers special edition of its upcoming flagship smartphone in partnership with Marvel Studios. Since the company is yet to confirm the specifications of the device, take these details with a pinch of salt. The official launch date will be announced in the coming weeks. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details about the upcoming Redmi smartphone!
