Cubot CheetahPhone in Partnership with Cheetah Mobile Announced at MWC

Cubot in a venture with Cheetah Mobile has launched CheetahPhone, their first co-branded smartphone at the MWC stage in Barcelona, Spain. European Union would be the first to own this device as it would be available for purchase through Amazon. The device would be shipping sometime in April, as the pre-orders being March 20. Well, you might not be aware of these two firms, Cubot, it is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer while Cheetah Mobile is a software firm that some of the most popular utility apps like Clean Master and CM Security, with more than 500 Million downloads.
The CheetahPhone comes with 5.5-inch Full HD display resolution and it is powered by a MediaTek MT6753 Octa-core chipset, which clocks at 1.5GHz. It is the same processor that is being used in the Lenovo Vibe K4 Note in India. The device packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, as well a 10GB of cloud storage space for your online needs.
The hardware part is handled by Cubot, while the software front is taken care by the Cheetah Mobile, with their expertise in device optimization, the company is taking Android Marshmallow based Cubot Launcher to the next level. The Gallery app is equipped with Wi-Fi transfer feature, which allows the faster exchange of images and videos to other devices. All the Cheetah Mobile apps are deeply integrated into the user interface functionality.
The camera package of this device includes 13-megapixel Samsung sensor on the rear while the 8-megapixel image sensor on the front. According to the company, their CheetahPhone is as long and wide as the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, although not as slim. Well, that is the comparison which many consumers won’t be doing, and so aren’t we. The battery capacity of this handset was not shared; we are waiting to hear from the brand yet.
The company plans to sell this device at Amazon stores online for Euro 199, which is approximately around $220. They will first start off in Europe and will further expand to Africa in the coming months. The software firm won’t be involved in the distribution of the devices, but would be actively promoting the product as their name is also engrossed on the device. It will be working with all the leading European carrier networks.
