The CES 2016 is just a couple of days away, which will officially start from 6th of January. While the major announcements come from the press conferences scheduled on 4th & 5th of January, we will cover most of the launches happen around the wearables and smartphones. Apart from the latest product launches, we also expect many new technologies to be showcased at the event. There will also be some announcements from the companies that we have been covering about their upcoming developments.
As of now only a few companies had officially announced their presence at CES 2016. But there are rumors about the other company to make official announcements in the coming days. Now we are gathering all the official and rumored information regarding the smartphones and other smart gadgets around the upcoming CES 2016 to keep you updated about what to expect from one of the major electronics and technology trade show events.
2015 has been a great year for ASUS; the company had announced the Zenfone 2 with 4GB RAM at the CES 2015 which has been one of the biggest takeaways from the event. The camera-centric smartphone Zenfone Zoom is also announced alongside the Zenfone 2, but after almost one year it was recently made available starting with its home country Taiwan.
Now, the company is expected to unveil the third generation Zenfone smartphones at the CES 2016. The device will be equipped with USB Type-C port and a fingerprint sensor. If the rumors are to believe, the device might also include 6GB of RAM, but don’t think the company will go beyond 4GB capacity. Apart from smartphones, ASUS may unveil a smart watch running on Android Wear OS.
Huawei is the only Chinese manufacturer that has been giving some stiff competition to likes of Samsung and Apple. The company also became the third largest smartphone manufacturer around the globe. The company had showcased the popular Huawei P7 and Huawei Mate 7 at the CES 2015 and now after the a year, the recently launched Huawei Mate 8 will enter the U.S market.
With the premium design and flagship specifications, the Mate 8 can be a good alternative for any other flagship device available in the market. If the Huawei devices are well received in the western markets, we expect Huawei to give Samsung a run for their money. As of now the Huawei Mate 8 is only available in China, and the flagship Huawei P9 and P9 max are expected to launch at the MWC 2016.
While Huawei is all set for some big announcements for the U.S, its sub-brand, Honor had already hinted about the official launch in the U.S market. The company is expected to launch the Honor Play 5X that was launched a couple of months back in China. Apart from the Huawei branded smartphones, the Honor smartphones are also well received by the users in the developing nations like China and India.
The $157 priced Honor 5X comes with a metal built body and offers some decent mid-range specifications. It also has a fingerprint sensor and runs on the latest Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor. While the device is launched in two variants with 2GB and 3GB of RAM’s, the U.S variant is expected to sport 3GB of RAM.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 that was rumored to be announced at the CES 2016 is officially announced in China yesterday. There is no information mentioned about the pricing and the availability of the device. Along with the Galaxy A5 (2016) & Galaxy A7 (2016), the Galaxy A9 (2016) is also expected to be announced for the international markets.
All the three device comes with metal built body with Glass used on the front and back. They also have a fingerprint sensor embedded into the physical home button that makes the Samsung Galaxy Pay accessible for mid-range users. The three devices come with OIS supported rear camera that offers better video recording. Apart from this, there are rumors about the company previewing the upcoming flagship Galaxy S7, though we aren’t pretty sure about this.
LG is the only major smartphone manufacturer to announce a premium smartphone a the CES 2015. The company had unveiled the LG G Flex 2 that came with a slightly flexible display and is also the first device to use Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor. Now at the CES 2016, the company is expected to unveil LG G Flex 3 smartphone. Though there is not much information about the device, it might be the first smartphone to sport a flexible display with Quad HD resolution.
Since the Nubia smartphones haven’t gained much popularity in the western markets, ZTE has launched a new Axon smartphone that has debuted in the U.S smartphone market. However the company hasn’t completely left out the Nubia series yet, the upcoming Nubia Z11 is the rumored flagship that sports top notch specifications like bezel -less display with 2K resolution and Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor. The company has confirmed its presence at the event and based on the rumors; the Nubia Z11 is expected to be unveiled along with other devices at the event.
