Best Upcoming Smartphones of June 2017 – Expected Specs & Features

by Teja Chedalla 1

In the coming weeks, we expect to see a few flagship smartphones launches. While a couple of those devices will be limited to the Chinese market, we hope to see them in other markets as well. A few smartphones like Gionee S10 and Huawei Nova 2 that are launched in the last couple of weeks will go on sale in early June. Apart from the below-mentioned devices, we also expect to see a few smartphone launches from the Indian brands.

OPPO R11 & OPPO R11 Plus

OPPO has started the marketing campaign for its upcoming OPPO R11 and R11 Plus smartphones. These two devices will be officially launched next month in China. However, the devices are already listed on TENAA revealing the first look and specifications of the device. Earlier this year, the company launched the OPPO F3 Plus smartphone in India with dual front facing cameras. Now, the two upcoming smartphones will come with dual rear cameras, but the company is not yet implementing the 5X lossless zoom technology that was unveiled at the MWC 2017. The devices will be running on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat based ColorOS 3.1. As rumors suggested, both the OPPO F11 and F11 Plus will be the first set of devices to get the new Snapdragon 660 SoC. The OPPO F11 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display and packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the OPPO F11 Plus comes with a 6-inch Full HD display and includes 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Talking about the cameras, there will be 20MP + 16MP dual-lens camera setup on the rear, and there is also a 20MP sensor on the front for selfies.

Moto G5S & Moto G5S Plus

In the first half of 2017, Motorola launched the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus as the successors to last year’s Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. In the coming weeks, we will be seeing the upgraded Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus smartphones. Looking at the leaked images, the Moto G5S devices will come with a unibody design, whereas the Moto G5 devices came with a removable back panel. On the front of the upcoming Moto G5S devices, we can also spot the LED flash sitting on the right side of the earpiece. The leaked information also confirmed the Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus to sport a 5.2-inch and a 5.5-inch Full HD displays respectively. Beneath the display, we can also find the One Button Nav that can be used instead of onscreen navigation buttons or the three different capacitive buttons. It also comes integrated with a fingerprint sensor which makes the devices a bit more secure. Recently, the company had officially launched two new entry-level smartphones under the all new Moto C devices called Moto C and Moto C Plus.

OnePlus 5

OnePlus 5, the next flagship smartphone from OnePlus is expected to be officially unveiled in the next few weeks. It will be the successor to the popular OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. Since the number four is considered unlucky in China, the company is skipping the OnePlus 4 name to this upcoming device. Most probably, we will be seeing the 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display on the OnePlus 5. It comes powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor built using the 10nm FinFET process and comes coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. As seen on the OnePlus 3 and 3T, the upcoming OnePlus 5 might also come with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. Based on the several leaks and rumors, the new OnePlus 5 will feature dual camera setup on the rear. The Dash Charge technology that was introduced with the OnePlus 3 might see some developments, and we hope the OnePlus 5 can be charged faster than the OnePlus 3/3T. It will be running on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat based Oxygen OS out of the box.

Moto Z2 Play

Apart from the mid-range Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus smartphones, we also expect Motorola to launch Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Play smartphones in the coming weeks. Unlike the Moto G5S devices, the specifications and live images of the Moto Z2 Play are already out. Interestingly, the company has mentioned the snap-on modular back panels as Moto Snaps instead of Moto Mods. The Moto Z2 Play sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD (1920 x 0180 pixels) resolution. It also packs Snapdragon 626 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. The 12MP shooter on the rear comes with dual pixel autofocus along with laser autofocus. While the first-gen Moto Z Play received high acclaims for its long lasting battery, we hope the Moto Z2 Play repeats the same with its 3,000mAh non-removable battery. It supports fast charging using the in-house Turbo Power fast charging technology. Another interesting feature on this device is the inclusion of dual tone LED flash on front and back of the device.

Nubia Z17

A few weeks back, Nubia launched the Nubia Z17 Mini smartphone in China. Now, the company is all set to unveil its latest flagship device, Nubia Z17 in the month of June. With the Nubia Z17, Nubia becomes the second Chinese manufacturers to launch Snapdragon 835 powered smartphone. Xiaomi has already launched the flagship Mi 6 with Snapdragon 835 SoC exclusively in China. Talking about the Nubia Z17, it is rumored to come with a 23MP dual camera setup on the rear and a 16MP selfie shooter on the front. It might come with a 5.5-inch Full HD display and pack 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of onboard storage. According to TENAA listing, the device measures 152.66 x 72.44 x 7.95 mm and weigh 170 grams. The fingerprint sensor is placed on the rear of the metal built unibody. On the front, we can find the iconic red colored circular capacitive home button. It will come powered by the 3,000mAh non-removable battery that should give a decent battery life. The recent rumors suggest the device to include Quick Charge 4.0 support along with UFS 2.1 storage.

Stay tuned on Phone Radar for the official launch dates of these upcoming smartphones.
