On this first day of this new year, we have categorized a few budget smartphones that are launched in December 2015. While there are many other devices launched along with the below-mentioned ones, we have picked up the few best smartphones that can offer the best value for their money. The list also includes few device that doesn’t feature competitive specifications but comes with a much lower price tag than the other devices.

ZTE-BLADE-A1-Dec

ZTE had launched this entry-level smartphone Blade A1 in China in December last year, yes in 2015. It is the only smartphone from a well-known brand to include a fingerprint sensor that too under Rs. 7,000 price range. This 5-inch device comes powered by MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage.

Apart from the fingerprint sensor, the USP of the device also lies in its camera department where it has a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. As of we are not expecting the company to launch this device in India anytime soon, but with such a good specifications, it can certainly be one of the go-to devices as of now. It is priced at 599 Yuan (approx Rs. 6,100) and is already available to purchase in China.

Karbonn had launched two new entry-level smartphones Karbonn Titanium S205 2GB and Karbonn Titanium Moghul in December. We the price difference is only Rs. 1,000; the Titanium S205 2GB offers better specifications at a slightly higher price of Rs. 6,790 when compared to the Rs. 5,790 price tag of Titanium Moghul. It features a 5-inch HD display and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core processor.

There is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage along wth a MicroSD card slot support. It has an 8MP rear camera and a 3.2MP selfie camera on the front. The dual SIM device is supported by a 2,200mAh battery and includes a Dragontrail Glass on the front for making the display scratch proof.

Xolo-8X-1000i-dec

A few days back XOLO had unveiled XOLO 8x-1000i smartphone that is the successor of XOLO 8x-1000. It runs on the Android 4.42 KitKat but comes with company’s custom Hive UI. While most of the specifications are identical to the earlier mentioned Karbonn Titanium S205 2GB, the device even includes smaller battery and smaller 2MP sensor.

On the camera front, it has an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera on this device. The 1,920mAh removable battery is expected to give decent 11 hours of talk time. It can be purchased exclusively through Snapdeal for a price of Rs. 6,999.

XOLO-one-hd-dec

Unlike the XOLO 8X-1000i, the One HD doesn’t sport that competitive specifications, but that said the device costs only Rs. 4,777. This is one of the cheapest smartphones to feature an HD display. The specifications of the device are 1GB  RAM, 8GB of built-in storage, and a 2,300mAh battery. While the earlier mentioned XOLO device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, the One HD comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop.

It has an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera that we don’t normally under Rs. 5,000 price range and interestingly both them are accompanied with LED flash. If your are interested in buying this device, then you can register for the sale that will happen on January 11th on Amazon India.

iBall-Andi-5.5H-Weber-smartphone

As the name suggests, iBall Andi 5.5H Weber comes with a 5.5-inch display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution. This dual SIM device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and comes powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. It has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

It has an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera. Though the rear camera is of 5MP, it is software optimized to capture 8MP images. It is backed by a 2,200mAh battery and includes IR Blaster for controlling other electronics that support remote controllers. The device supports 21 Indian regional languages and costs only Rs. 6,499.

Zen Mobiles had launched the Cinemax 2 to give ultimate multimedia experience on the large 5.5-inch display. It features a 5.5-inch qHD resolution display and it is also the most affordable smartphone to include a 5.5-inch display. Under the hood is the 1.3GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage.

It includes a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers connectivity options like 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and MicroUSB port. The 2,900mAh battery on the Cinemax 2 makes it one of the long lasting devices in this price segment.


There are few others budget smartphones launched this week but compared to the above-mentioned devices; these devices doesn’t offer that much value to your money. Apart from the specifications list, the user experiences also matter a lot since not many of you want to have a smartphone that lags all the time.

While ASUS is the only major to brand to launch a smartphone under Rs. 7,000 price range, the device specifications make it below par when compared with other devices. Microsoft came with the first ever Selfie feature phone called Nokia 230 that can be recommended only if your are looking for a backup device. It has an Aluminum back cover with 2MP front and rear cameras with LED flashes on both the sides.
