With Smartwatch announcements coming like piece of cake, the market has already heat up a lot in terms of competition. But there’s always a room for new product launch, as the company backed by Intel has announced its new smartwatch, which is compatible with iOS devices and places its focus on health and fitness applications rather than notifications or navigation apps.
Basis Peak, is a one such app that aims to tackle a more dedicated market or heart rate monitors, but wants to be called a Smartwatch. The device sis capable of keeping track of several health related metrics, such as steps taken, calories burned, heart rate, perspiration, temperature of your skin, as well as the in-depth information of your sleeping patterns.
Currently, the wearable tech from Basis doesn’t support the smartwatch features like email and text notifications, as company notes that they will be introduced in the future software update. Just like the Android Smartphone support for the fitness dedicated smartwatch is planned for the future updates.
Though, it has powerful set of features to support your fitness needs, as the device sport a sleep touch screen display and has improved the sensor technologies from its last product. It has a high contrast display made with protection of Gorilla Glass 3. It also boasts a 3-axis accelerometer and galvanic skin response sensor, as well as connectivity via the Bluetooth Smart feature.
The Peak continuously monitors the movements, perspiration and skin temperature of the wearer. With its multi-sensor technology approach, combined with BodyIQ technology enabling the device to automatically and accurately detect the walking, running, biking, sleep patterns, sleep quality and more.
As the multi-sensors in the Peak will work continuously for 24/7, it will still manage an amazing battery life of up to 4 days, which is not present on any Android Wear or any other popular smartwatch with multi-functions. The device also touts the water resistance rating of 5ATM, which means you can take the Peak Smartwatch into the shower or even swim with it.
On the comparison note, the device is directly competing with the recently announced Apple Watch, which is slated to go on sale next year. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the Basis Peak might emerge as a successor due to its functionality and pricing model.
With all this high-end functionality sensors installed on this sleek design smartwatch, it is priced at a substantial amount of $199.99 and will be available starting from November this year.
