Huawei recently replaced Apple as the second largest smartphone brand in the world. However, it is still ambitious about the US market to further increase its market share. None of the US carriers are ready to sell the Huawei phones. Even the US intelligence agencies are warning not use the Huawei or ZTE phones. Now, both the companies are banned by the Australian government from selling the 5G telecom equipment to the Australian carriers.

While the Australian Government hasn’t mentioned the names of Huawei and ZTE, the recent security guidance for the mobile carriers says “The government considers that the involvement of vendors who are likely to be subject to extrajudicial directions from a foreign government that conflict with Australian law, may risk failure by the carrier to adequately protect a 5G network from unauthorized access or interference.”

From the above statement, the above Government feels that Chinese firms influenced by China could post national security threats. Both the companies have made several advancements in the 5G technology which will be the base for everything in the future connected world. While carriers all over the world are getting ready to roll out 5G in 2019, the ban on Chinese firms while also be a major setback for their operations in the other markets as well.
