Asus, the Taiwanese giant, has finally launched its budget friendly Zenfone Go smartphone in India. The device comes with some pretty impressive specs and is priced very aggressively. It comes in two variants, one with 8GB of internal storage and the other with 16GB of internal storage. As of now, the company has launched only the 8GB variant, but the Flipkart listing also shows a 16GB variant.
Peter Chang, Manager, Asus India, said, “We are excited to announce the availability of Zenfone Go for our Indian users. Being the third largest home to smartphone users, India is a critical market for us and we intend to bring cutting edge products to consumers here, who seek power packed design sensibilities of a high-end smartphone at competitive prices.”
It sports a 5-inch HD (1280×720) IPS display with a pixel density of 294ppi. The device is powered by Mediatek MT6580 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and coupled with Mali 400 GPU and 2GB of RAM. With 8GB and 16GB of internal storages, the company also provided a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 64GB.
Coming to the camera, it has an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based latest Zen UI. The device measures 144.5 x 71 x 9.98 mm and weighs 135 grams
The device is powered by a battery of 2,070mAh capacity that can deliver up to 7 hours of talk time and can last up to 250 hours on standby. It supports dual SIM dual standby but lacks the 4G LTE connectivity. Connectivity on this device includes Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0.
There are quite the numbers of budget-friendly devices available in the market that offers pretty decent specification for the price tag. While some of them also offer the 4G LTE connectivity. This trend of announcing affordable 4G smartphones has been set in India by brands like Lenovo, Xiaomi, Yuphoria, etc.
It is available in the colors – Black, White & Red. The 8GB variant of the Zenfone GO is priced at Rs.7,999 and will be available to purchase from across India via online and offline stores.
