ASUS Zenfone 6 Confirmed to Launch as ASUS 6Z in India

The recent court order restricted the ASUS from using the Zen or Zenfone branding for its products in India. While ASUS is rumored to postpone the India launch of the Zenfone 6Z, the company is actually sticking to the schedule. However, it has decided to remove the Zenfone branding and will launch the ASUS Zenfone 6 as ASUS 6Z in the Indian market. Also, the company has to change the name of its Zen UI. We need to wait until the launch date to know more details about the changes which are made to obey the court order.

Talking about the device, the ASUS 6Z comes with a 3D curved glass body with an aluminum frame. On the front, it sports a 6.4-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with 92% screen-to-body ratio. While the rear of the device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the front comes with Gorilla Glass 6 protection. Under the hood, the device comes powered by 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform coupled with Kryo 485 CPU and Adreno 640 GPU. It packs up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage.

There is also a dedicated MicroSD card slot for further expanding the storage up to 2TB. Coming to the cameras, the ASUS 6Z comes with just two sensors on the rear. The company is calling this setup as Flip Camera. It sports 48MP primary sensor with f/1.79 aperture and 13MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 125-degree field-of-view. These same cameras can also be flipped to the front for capturing selfies. The ASUS 6Z is backed by a whopping 5,000mAh battery and also support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology.

It runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with Zen UI skin on top. Instead of the in-display fingerprint scanner, the ASUS 6Z sticks with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. On the right, we can find the power button, volume rocker, and the all-new smart key. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, FM Radio, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port.
