ASUS ROG Phone 2 Could Become the First Smartphone to Launch in India with 120Hz Display

Last year, ASUS debuted the gaming smartphone category by launching the ASUS ROG Phone. ROG is already a favorite brand for many of the gaming enthusiasts. With the ROG Phone, ASUS several first of its kind features on any smartphone. Now in 2019, the company is getting ready to unveil the ROG Phone 2 as a successor to the original ROG Phone. This time, ASUS will be officially partnering with Tencent Games to fine tune the device to offer better gaming experience.

Tencent Games is the publisher of the popular battle royale game PUBG Mobile and will soon release the Call of Duty Mobile for Android and iOS devices. With the success of battle royale games, it will be easy for companies to target mobile gamers. While its predecessor came with a 90Hz display, the display on the upcoming ROG Phone 2 will reportedly offer 120Hz refresh rate. As of now, there is not much content to take advantage of the super smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

Both the Razer Phone and Razer Phone 2 came with the 120Hz display. While the Razer Phones are not officially launched in India, the ASUS ROG Phone 2 could become the first smartphone to offer 120Hz display in the Indian market. The company even launched its original ROG Phone in India. Earlier this year, Nubia’s Red Magic and Xiaomi’s Black Shark also made their debut in the Indian market. In the next few days, Nubia will be launching the latest Red Magic 3 gaming smartphone with a built-in cooling fan in India.

As per the leaks, the ROG Phone 2 could be officially unveiled in the month of July. It will come powered by the 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform and will offer up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. ASUS will also continue to support the wide-range gaming accessories announced with the original ROG Phone. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details about the upcoming gaming smartphones!
