In January 2016 this year, ASUS launched the 5000mAh backed Zenfone Max for rs. 9,999. Today the company launched the upgraded variant with a couple of improved specifications. The design of the device remains same with textured finished back cover and the iconic concentric circle design on the bottom front. It comes with 5.5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and is protected by Gorilla Glass 4 laid on top.
The Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor is now replaced with octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It comes in two variants with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage. The USP of the device is its 5,000mAh battery that is rated to deliver 37.6 hours if talk time and lasts upto 38 days on standby. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE for faster internet speeds.
While the earlier launched variant came with Android 5.1 Lollipop, now the latest launched Zenfone Max runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with highly customized Zen UI laid on top. On the camera front, there is a 13MP rear camera with laser autofocus and an aperture of f/2.0. For selfie lovers, the device packs a 5MP front with the same f/2.0 aperture. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port.
With the massive 5,000mAh battery, the Zenfone Max can be used to charge other smartphones. The devices will be exclusively sold through Flipkart and comes in four colors including Black, White, Blue & Pink. It feels thick in hand by measuring 10.55mm thickness and weighs almost 202 grams. Talking about the pricing, the new Zenfone Max wth 2GB RAM is priced at Rs. 9,999 while the 3GB variant costs Rs. 12,999. The company also dropped the price of earlier Zenfone Max from Rs. 9,999 to Rs. 8,999.
