Last year, Razer set its foot in the smartphone market by launching the gaming specific smartphone with 120Hz display and dual front-facing speakers. Earlier this year, we have seen gaming smartphones from Xiaomi and Nubia. Today, Asus has officially unveiled its first ever gaming smartphone called Asus ROG Phone at the ongoing Computex 2018 in Taipei, Taiwan. The device comes with enhanced ergonomics to better suit long time gaming.
It comes powered by the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform overclocked at 2.96GHz. It is optimized to offer lag-free gaming. The device also comes with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. It comes built-in with Snapdragon X21 LTE modem to offer Gigabit+ LTE speeds. On the front is the 6-inch AMOLED HDR display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 90Hz refresh rate. The device comes bundled with an ‘AeroActive cooler’ for extra cooling boost.
Unlike any other gaming smartphone, the ROG Phone looks like it is truly built for gamers. It got two USB Type-C charging ports – one on the bottom edge and there is also a side-mounted port for charging the device while gaming. The USB Type-C port can also be used for HDMI output, Gigabit LAN, and headphones. Coming to the build quality, the ROG Phone sports metal frame with the diamond-cut design.
