Archos has been manufacturing tablets, Smartphones and media players and debuted the mobile phone market in 2013 and since then it has bundled out many devices. Now this French multinational company has added a new rugged device to its smartphone lineup dubbed as Archos 50 Saphir that will be joining 50f Helium and 55 Helium series which are announced already. They are likely to appear in the IFA 2016 trade show that is scheduled in Berlin. This rugged device is designed in such a way that it can withstand all the calamities and also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 which is scratch resistant and also saves the screen from 1 meter high falls.

Coming with a rugged back case, this device is IP68 certified for dust and waterproof and can also withstand temperatures from -20 degree centigrade to +55 degree centigrade. Priced at $245, the Archos 50 Saphir will sport a 5 inch HD IPS display with 720p resolution and is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor with a clocking speed of 1.5GHz coupled with 2GB RAM and Mali-T720 GPU.

The Archos 50 Saphir will come with an on-board memory of 16GB that can further be extended up to a maximum of 128GB via microSD card. There is a 13MP auto focus camera sensor on the rear accompanied with a 5MP shooter on the front. On the connectivity front, the handset supports 4G LTE connectivity, USB OTG (On-the-go), Bluetooth v4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. It also has sensors like Light and Proximity along with a 3D-G sensor.

Further, this rugged device runs Android Marshmallow out of the box, and there is a mammoth 5000 mAh batter on the back with a 9V/2.5A fast charger. This device is expected to ship in the month of October later this year and with Marshmallow, the user can get access to more than 1.4 million apps, games and books through the optimised Google Play store.

We are not sure when the device will be released globally, but we are eager to lay our hands on this device. There are good chances that we should be hearing more from the brand in the coming weeks once the IFA Announcement is completed.
