Apple’s 2016 Flagship Launches – iPhone 7, 7 Plus & Watch 2 – Everything You Should Know



Apple has officially launched the latest smartphones  – iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. More than the devices hardware, the company has started talking about the apps and features of the devices. Apple also announced that there are around 17 million paid subscribers on Apple Music. On the other hand, the App Store has received more than 140 billion downloads which is a big deal. Before talking about the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the company came up with the Apple Watch 2. The popular (addictive) Pokemon Go is now available on Apple Watch. While the first gen Apple Watch was just splash proof, now the company made the Watch 2 a swim proof watch. The speaker of the Watch 2 can also eject the water inside the speaker grill. The display on the Watch 2 offers 1000 nits of brightness with 60 frames per second. It is powered by dual core processor which is 50% powerful than the processor on last year’s Apple Watch. The Apple Watch 2 also comes with built-in GPS, but that will seriously affect the battery life.


There is also another version called Nike Plus and comes with the social network called Nike+ Run Club which analysis the weather, your friends, days of the week, and your personal sense of shame. Both the variants of Apple Watch 2 are priced at $369 and will be available on sale from late October. The pre-orders kicks off from September 9th in the U.S. And lately, now we have some confirmation about the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Both the devices come with iOS 10 and the Home Kit come built-in to the OS. It allows controlling most of the home automation products available in the market.

The physical home button replacement with force sensitive home button that gives Taptic feedback with the built-in Taptic engine. The IP67 certification makes the devices water and dust resistant. Coming to the cameras, the iPhone 7 comes with 12MP rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), quad LED TrueTone flash, f/1.8 aperture, and 6P lens. The Image Processing Sensor was designed by Apple itself. For selfies, there is a 7MP FaceTime HD camera with auto image stabilisation.


For iPhone 7 Plus, the dual camera setup is now official. There is 12MP wide-angle camera as on iPhone 7 and another 12MP Telephoto camera with 2X optical zoom and 10X software zoom. Huawei and LG already launched smartphones with dual cameras that capture brilliant images. The iPhone 7 comes with 4.7-inch display, the iPhone 7 Plus sports 5.5-inch display with same resolution as on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus respectively. Now in 2016, the iPhone 7 comes with stereo speakers placed on one at top and bottom edges.

The 3.5mm is now officially killed by Apple, the official EarPods comes with lighting port to connect with iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. There is also a 3.5mm to lighting port adapter provided within the package. There is also one more new product ‘Apple AirPods,’ true wireless earphones. It comes powered by the Apple W1 chip and combined with the battery case, the AirPods give 25hours of battery life. It works with both iPhone and Apple Watch and can seamlessly connect with one another. Under the hood, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are powered by 64-bit quad-core Apple A10 Fusion chipset.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi‑Fi with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, and NFC. The iPhone 7 give two hours more battery life than iPhone 6S while the iPhone 7 Plus is only limited to one hour extra time than the iPhone 6s Plus. The iPhone 7 & 7 Plus comes in new glossy finish Jet Black, and the matte finish Black color along with Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold color options.

The 32GB variant of iPhone 7 is priced at $649 same as last year’s iPhone 6s and the iPhone 7S Plus costs $769. Now the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus coming with 32GB storage as the base variant. Coming to India, the devices will be available from October 7 and the price of the new iPhones is expected to start from Rs. 60,000. The Apple Watch 2 is priced at Rs. 32,900 and the new ceramic Apple Watch 2 Edition costs Rs. 1,10,900.
