Apple announced the new AirPods, along with the new iPhones a couple of months back. It has gotten a mixed reaction from the consumers since the design is rather odd and most of the consumers are concerned about the fact that it won’t fit them properly. Well, if you don’t know what AirPods are, they are Apple’s wireless earphones, and they connect to your iPhones with the help of a chip called as W1 chip. Initially, the company reported that they would be launching them a couple of months after the initial announcement.
Later it was further delayed by them without giving a proper release date. It has been a debatable topic since then as no one knows when they will be launching them. And now according to the new reports tat we have right now, it is reported that the AirPods will enter production in December. Well, it indicates only one thing that the AirPods will be available to purchase by early 2017 only. This matches the previously rumored launch date which we had. Now we just have to see if it happens.
According to the source, the initial production will be fairly small, and it is expected that anywhere between a total of 10 million to 15 million units will be made. Now this could be an issue if the demand of the AirPods is high and they run out of units to ship. In that case, the shipping dates will again be pushed back further, and that is not something which consumers might want to experience. Well, it is nothing from Apple right? It is the story which we see pretty much with every other iPhone launch.
The AirPods come with a price tag of $159, and for that price, there are better alternatives out there. On the other hand, if you are willing to spend more, then you cam check out our list of Bluetooth headphones which you can buy for your new iPhone. Anyway, at the day of the day, it comes down to personal preference as to what you want. If you want true wireless ear buds right now, then you can shed some more money and go for the Samsung Gear IconX which retails for about $200 as of now. Do make a note that it comes with cons of its own, hence you might want to reconsider that thought.
Well, if not and you are a true Apple fanboy, then you might have till early 2017 as mentioned earlier since that is when we expect them to launch the AirPods. Just to clear the air here, we don’t have any confirmation on any of this, and hence we can’t confirm this news from our side. We suggest you take this with a pinch of salt and wait for further news regarding the same. If you want more info on this, then you can stay tuned to Phone Radar for more detailed info as we will update once we have more info.
