Apple iPhone 8 Tipped To Come With ‘SmartCam’ Scene Recognition & Face ID For Apple Pay

Rumors about the upcoming iPhone 8 don’t seem to stop anytime soon. a few days back we had reported about the design confirmation and the presence of infrared camera for face recognition. However, we have some reports which say that Apple is going to introduce a new feature called SmartCam for scene recognition and also it looks like users will be getting Face ID option for Apple Pay.

According to a piece of code discovered by Guilherme Rambo, the SmartCam may be used by the new camera app capture the best photos when shooting specific scenes. Yes, this code was discovered from the same leaked HomePod software. This particular SmartCam code refers to several scenes like Baby, Bright Stage, Document, Fireworks, Foliage, etc. Apparently, the iPhone camera will look for these scenes and it will automatically adjust the settings to capture the best possible image.

If you don’t know already, Apple uses object recognition in Photos for search and memories. However, the future iPhones are expected to take it up a notch. It looks like the upcoming iPhones will have a dedicated ‘Neural Engine’ processor to optimize for machine learning tasks of this kind. Well, this definitely sounds lot interesting, however, it remains to be seen how it will be implemented.

Similarly, another piece of code was discovered and it reports that Apple could rely on facial recognition for authenticating Apple Pay. As we already know, there are a ton of reports out there which says that Apple will ditch TouchID in favor of a facial recognition method. And if this is true, then obviously there has to be an alternative to Touch ID for authenticating payments. The specific code ‘passbook.payment.contactlessinterface’ with ‘pearl.field-detect’ and ‘pearl.pre-arm’. For a novice, this might look like a lot of unfamiliar code, but in short, this is believed to be the rumored Face ID.

There is also a reference to inductive charging as well as ‘2017iPhone’ and a 6.5-inch Retina display and more. You can head over to link given below for more details on the same. Having said that, we would like to know your thoughts on this, hence, be sure to leave a comment down below.
