Back in 2013, Apple made a bold decision to launch an affordable iPhone with the polycarbonate body. Though the iPhone 5C was cheaper than other iPhones, it is still costlier for the budget constraint users in the emerging markets. While the iPhone 5C is short-lived until February 17th, 2016, the 4-inch iPhone 5S is still the go-to choice for many first time iPhone buyers. In March 2016, the company also launched the iPhone SE, which is basically an iPhone 5S with the upgraded specifications.
However, the iPhone 5C is now relisted on Chinese telecommunications regulatory website TENAA on November 28th, 2017. It comes with the model number A1516, same as on the earlier TENAA listings of iPhone 5C. The manufacturing location is mentioned as Suzhou City, where Wistron has an assembling plant for iPhones. Even the specifications of the device remain same on both newer and older listings. It comes with a Touch ID on the front and a plastic body on the rear.
During the launch time, the iPhone 5C is priced at Rs. 41,900 and Rs. 53,500 for the 16GB and 32GB storage variants respectively. In 2013, the iPhone 5C came with a 4-inch display with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by 32-bit Apple A6 dual-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. It packs 1GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of non-expandable storage. In terms of optics, the iPhone 5c offers an 8MP shooter on the rear and a 1.2MP selfie shooter on the front.
It then came with iOS 7 and received software OTA updates until iOS 10. The device is backed by a 1,510mAh non-removable battery. It measures 124.40 x 59.20 x 8.97 mm and weighs 132 grams. While there is no indication about the comeback of the iPhone 5C, the recent leaks suggest the company to launch an affordable iPad with a 9.7-inch in 2018. Based on the leaks, this new iPad will be costing around $250. Take these details with a pinch of salt and let’s wait for the official confirmation.
