Apple has been in the news lately about its two-years-long battle with Qualcomm. Both the companies had agreed to a settlement after Apple had agreed to pay Qualcomm and also signed a six-year license agreement as part of the settlement as well. About a year ago, Apple had also been the news for highly speculated iPhone SE 2, which was supposed to be the successor of its compact iPhone SE device. Well, obviously it hadn’t happened. Nonetheless, new reports are suggesting another compact iPhone would most likely be updated next year.
According to the Economic Daily News (EDN) report, Apple allegedly has plans to launch an upgraded 4.7-inch iPhone 8 early next year that caters to mid-tier smartphones segment. The report quotes Taiwan-based Fubon Securities Investment Trust that further reveals an upgraded iPhone 8 to come in March of 2020.
The revised iPhone 8, which is likely to be called ‘iPhone 8s’ is said to be featuring the same 4.7-inch LCD display as the current iPhone 8. And, also the device is said to be featuring a single lens rear camera and 128GB of internal storage as well. Nevertheless, the upgraded iPhone 8 will be featuring the new A13 processor, which will be launched with 2019 iPhones in September. This approach appears similar to what Apple had done with iPhone SE, wherein it featured the iPhone 6s internals, which was launched the previous year.
The upgraded iPhone 8 is said to be targeted to mid-tier segment since there are no noticeable options currently other than the iPhone 7, which is a couple of years old already. The mid-tier market is said to be where Apple is currently behind as the place is occupied by Chinese smartphone makers including, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo. While those Chinese made devices look more modern with bigger full-screen notch displays, the reportedly smaller iPhone 8 upgraded version with the significantly smaller screen (4.7-inch) and chunky top and bottom bezels might be a hard choice to pick for consumers looking for a decent smartphone in the respective price bracket.
The report had further revealed the expected pricing of the upgraded iPhone 8 that would be coming in March 2020, and it turns out the iPhone 8 revised might be priced around $649, which indeed makes the device hard to sell. Stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more such interesting updates.
