If there’s a huge mobile event going on, you expect Alcatel’s presence with some buzz around with new launches. Alcatel is exactly doing that, by announcing a tablet and now, the Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 5.5 is official, and as the name suggests, the device has a 5.5-inch display.
The OneTouch Pixi 3 5.5’s large display has a pretty low resolution, at 540 x 960 pixels. Internally, there is quite a difference in two models, which are sold separately based on connectivity. While the 3G one is powered by a MediaTek MT6580 quad-core chipset, and the 4G LTE unit has a QCT 8909 quad-core chipset powering it. Both the units have 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage and MicroSD card slot for expansion, supporting up to 32GB in the 3G model and 4G model available in the U.S., while there is a support for 128GB MicroSD card in the international 4G unit.
On the back of the device, there is a 8-megapixel camera and a 2-megapixel shooter is given on the front for selfies. The battery in OneTouch Pixi 3 5.5 is different again for the two variants – 3G one comes with a 2910 mAh battery, and the 4G one has a 2800 mAh battery.
The phone comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box, and apart from the data connectivity mentioned above, there is Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, etc. The software features include WiFi booster, which is similar to the one in Galaxy flagship series, allowing download of a file simultaneously using Wi-Fi and data network. The Pixi 3 5.5 also has the WiFi display feature using which the content of the phone can be streamed to a larger display, like television, over Wi-Fi.
There are a total of nine color options given for the device, including Volcano Black, White, Amber Orange, Tango Red, Neon Pink, Laser Yellow, Vivid Green, Sharp Blue and Metallic Silver. The information about pricing and availability is not known yet.
