Alcatel is one of the sub-brand brands of TCL, and it has a decent market share in the Western markets. A few months back, TCL had changed the brand name from Alcatel OneTouch to Alcatel. Today, the company has sent out the media invite for the launch of a new set of tablets on June 15th. The company will be unveiling the Alcatel A3 10″ TAB along with the Alcatel Pixi 4 7″ 4G and Alcatel Pixi 4 7″ Wi-Fi tablets. However, the Pixi 4 7″ 4G and Wi-Fi only tablets are already on sale through Flipkart in India. The 4G variant of the Pixi 4 7″ tablet is priced at Rs. 6,499, while the Wi-Fi only variant is costing much cheaper at just Rs. 3,999.
The Alcatel A3 10″ tablet was showcased at the MWC 2017 event. Just like the Pixi 4 7″ tablets, the Alcatel A3 10″ tablet also comes with entry-level specifications. It sports a polycarbonate shell with thick bezels all around the display. According to the company, the tablet comes with a 3D textured back cover and colorful frames. Talking about the specifications, the A3 10″ tablet comes with 10″ IPS display offering just HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. With such a low resolution on a big 10-inch display, we don’t know how many of them will be actually interested this tablet.
It is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.1GHz and packs just 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There is a MicroSD slot for further expansion of storage on this device. The device runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with the stock UI on top. Since the device is running on the latest Android, it supports split-screen multitasking, but the tablet lacks the powerful specifications to offer lag free experience. With the dual speakers onboard, the tablet should offer better sound output. It might also feature 5MP sensor on the front and rear of the tablet without LED flash.
The tablet is backed by a 4,600mAh battery that should be giving a decent battery life. Unlike the Pixi 4 7″ tablet, the Alcatel A3 10″ tablet comes only in one variant which supports 4G LTE. Connectivity options include Cat.4 LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. The company might also launch bring the dedicated Bluetooth keyboard along with this 10″ tablet. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details about the Alcatel’s affordable tablets.
