Looking almost similar to the original Alcatel OneTouch Watch, the new Go Watch is announced by Alcatel at IFA today. The new smartwatch from company incorporates some of the design language of Go Play smartphone (waterproof phone), producing a bulky rugged wearable with similar colorful design.
The Go Watch from French company is an attempt to gain some strength in the ever growing wearables market. Boasting a sporty look, it is targeted towards the fitness enthusiasts. The wearable is compatible with platforms, the Android and iOS, giving it an advantage over many smartwatches in the market. It plays well specifically with the devices running on at least Android 4.3 and iOS 7.
The chunky design watch is been rated with IP 67 certification, which means it is shockproof, waterproof, as well as dustproof. You will get notifications such as SNS, SMS, emails, incoming calls and weather updates on the Go Watch. All these notifications will be extracted from the phone when the device and Watch are paired using the proprietary Go Watch.
The company claims that its battery would last between 2-5 days according to usage, which is quite an interesting achievement for a wearable when compared with rivals. The 180MHz Cortex M4 processor would be running the show internally with the support of a 225mAh capacity battery.
On the software part, the Go Watch runs on modified software based on the original Alcatel Watch, carrying the slightly upgraded app suite. Additionally, this time around the company has included a new GoPro app that will allow you to control the powerful tiny camera from your wrist.
It isn’t the sleekest smartwatch introduced in the market today but does certainly have a flair for the features it packs ranging from waterproof functionality to doing all the basic thing a smartwatch can offer these days. Moreover, you get a promising long battery life on it. With this watch, Alcatel is hoping to attract new customers into the wearables arena.
