Huawei is now riding on the AI bandwagon with its new Kirin 970 processor. The earlier launched Huawei Mate 10 & Mate 10 Pro smartphones are powered by the flagship Kirin 970 processor. Today, Honor unveiled the Honor V10 smartphone as the successor to Honor V9. While the Honor V9 was launched Honor 8 Pro in the international market, the new Honor V10 is expected to launch as Honor 9 Pro on December 5th in London. The device sports a metal unibody design with chamfered edges and a 2.5D curved glass on the front.
Unlike many other 18:9 smartphones, the Honor V10 features a front-facing physical home button with an integrated fingerprint sensor. The antenna bands are placed across the top and bottom edges. It sports a 5.99-inch FullView display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is the Kirin 970 octa-core processor coupled with Mali-G72 MP12 GPU. It also comes equipped with a dedicated NPU that can process 2,000 images per minute, compared to just 97 images using the CPU.
The smartphone comes with 6GB of RAM and will be available in 64GB & 128GB storage options. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage up to 256GB. The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 out of the box. However, the Chinese version will be offering additional services like the AI-powered virtual assistant. The Honor V10 also supports Huawei Pay for making mobile payments. Honor and DJI partnered to offer voice-based features for its drone users.
With the Honor V10, DJI users can say “Mavic Take-off” to take-off from the ground.In the camera department, the Honor V10 offers a 16MP + 20MP dual rear cameras with f/1.8 aperture and a 13MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies. The device measures just 6.95mm thickness and includes a 3,750mAh non-removable battery. It also supports Honor SuperCharge that offers 5V/4.5A (22.5W) fast charging.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, IR Blaster, NFC, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port. Talking about the pricing, the Honor V10 with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at 2699 Yuan (approx $410 / Rs. 26,300). The Honor V10 with 6GB RAM is priced at 2999 Yuan and 3499 Yuan for the 64GB and 128GB storage variants respectively. It is currently available for pre-orders, and the sale will begin from December 5th in China.
