8848 M5 Smartphone with Lizard & Crocodile Skin Leather Back Launched in China

8848 is the China-based smartphone manufacturer which is known for making luxury smartphones. Now, the company has launched its latest smartphone called 8848 M5. After debuting the market in 2015, the company has sold more than 400,000 sales that too with a retention rate of 85%. While the 0.4 million sales don’t look big when compared with the major smartphone brands, it is certainly a big achievement for a luxury brand which is limited to the Chinese market. Just like the previous 8848 smartphones, the new 8848 M5 also comes with the double V design.

On the rear, the 8848 M5 sports a secondary display called Time Eye. The Time Eye is designed by 8848 in partnership with the Switzerland-based independent watchmakers society called AHCI. It is actually a rear-facing circular screen that shows time, notifications, and caller ID. Both the rear camera and LED flash are placed on either side of the Time Eye. Talking about the build quality, the 8848 M5 sports Titanium frame with leather back. The Crocodile skin leather back variant in Chocolate Brown color is priced at 29,999 Yuan (approx Rs 3,12,800).

There is also a Lizard skin leather back variant which costs 19,999 Yuan (Rs 2,08,500) and comes in Burgundy Red color. The base variant of the device is priced at 9,999 Yuan (Rs 1,04,250) and packs the last-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform. In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform could have made the 8848 M5 looks on par with Android flagship devices. There is a 5.65-inch display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. There is 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage on this device.

The front-facing home button also comes with an integrated fingerprint sensor. Talking about the cameras, there is a 12MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and a 16MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. It is backed by a 3,450mAh non-removable battery that also support fast charging via a USB Type-C port. While there is a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion, the 8848 M5 supports dual SIM dual standby. It measures 167.5 x 73.9 x 11.7 mm and weighs 230 grams.
