Earlier in May this year, Xiaomi had unveiled its largest ever smartphone Mi Max in China. The device came with a massive 6.44-inch display and sports decent mid-range specifications. Today the same device is officially launched in India along with the latest MIUI 8. For the earlier Xiaomi devices, the MIUI beta update will be released on July 11th while the stable OTA will be released starting from August 16th.
Talking about the device, it features an all-metal body with a 2.5D glass laid on top. The 6.44-inch display of the Mi Max comes with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. It comes in two variants where one is powered by Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor while the another variant comes with Snapdragon 650 hexa-core chipset that was first used with the Redmi Note 3.

The Snapdragon 652 variant sports 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage while the Snapdragon 650 powered Mi Max has 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Unlike the flagship Mi 5, the Mi Max includes a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion upto 128GB. Coming to the camera department, the Mi Max sports a 16MP rear camera with PDAF & f/2.0 aperture, and a 5MP front facing camera with 85-degeree wide angle lens. There is also a fingerprint sensor placed on the rear of the device.
It is backed by a huge 4,850mAh non-removable battery. The device runs on latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the MIUI 8 will be released soon as mentioned above. There is a hybrid SIM slot where the user can opt for a MicroSD card slot instead of the second SIM. It measures 173.1 x 88.3 x 7.5 mm and weighs 203 grams. The device will be available in Gold, Light Gray, and Silver color options.
The Mi Max with 3GB RAM is priced at Rs. 14,999 and the 4GB RAM variant costs Rs. 19,999. It will be available through Flipkart, Snapdeal, Amazon, and PayTM starting from July 13th via open sale, but it will be on sale starting from July 6th exclusively through Mi.com.
