Just yesterday, the upcoming flagship smartphone Xiaomi Mi 6 was spotted on GFXbench. It was listed with the codename Sagit and today, a new device codenamed Oxygen was listed on the same benchmarking website. Looking at the specifications, we can confirm the Xiaomi Oxygen to be the successor to the last year’s Mi Max. The upcoming Mi Max 2 comes with a 6.4-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) whereas the first gen Mi Max came with a 6.44-inch display. The listing also mentioned the device to run on Android 7.1.1 out of the box.
Xiaomi recently released the Android 7.0 Nougat based MIUI 8 update for the Xiaomi Mi 5C smartphone, and the upcoming MIUI 9 update might bring the Android 7.1.1 update. It is powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The earlier leaks suggested the device to use the Snapdragon 660 SoC. Qualcomm is yet to officially announce this new chipset, but the leaks revealed it use the custom Kryo cores and includes Adreno 512 GPU instead of Adreno 506 GPU.
This specific variant offers 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There might be an expandable storage option using the hybrid SIM slot. Talking about the cameras, the 16MP rear camera from the Mi Max is now replaced with a 12MP sensor. Even the Mi 6 also uses the 12MP sensor on the rear, whereas the Mi 5 offered a 16MP sensor. For selfies, the Mi Max 2 continues to use the 5MP sensor as on its predecessor. With the fingerprint sensor and NFC support, the device can also be used for Mi Pay mobile payment service.
It supports dual SIM dual standby, and the connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC. The Mi Max 2 also packs a bunch of sensors including accelerometer, barometer, compass, gyroscope, pedometer, proximity, and light sensor. The Mi Max came in two variants using the Snapdragon 650 hexa-core SoC and Snapdragon 652 octa-core SoC. It even came with a huge a 4,850mAh non-removable battery, and the upcoming Mi Max 2 might also include similar size battery.
