After months of rumors and leaks, Xiaomi officially launched the Mi 5S smartphone. Unlike Mi 5, the Mi 5S comes with an all metal body with a curved back. It will be available in Dark Gray, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold color options. The Rose Gold and Silver color variants come with a matte finish on the back. As expected the device is powered by the latest Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor which is 10% more powerful than the Snapdragon 820 processor in the Mi 5.

Compared to Mi 5S Plus, the Snapdragon 821 SoC on Mi 5S is underclocked at 2.15GHz. As rumored it comes with an under glass fingerprint sensor which sits behind the big oval shaped capacitive home button under the front glass panel. It uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID fingerprint technology. It sports 5.15-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with 600 nits brightness. It comes in two variants with 3GB RAM + 64GB Storage and 4GB RAM + 128GB Storage.

There is a 12MP IMX378 sensor on the rear with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, and 80-degree wide angle lens. For selfies, the Mi 5S is equipped with 4MP camera with the same f/2.0 aperture.  The device measures 145.6 x 70.3 x 8.25 mm and weighs 145 grams. It is backed by a 3200mAh battery that supports QuickCharge 3.0 with the provided 9V/2A adapter. As the device supports NFC, it can be used for the mobile payments with the Mi Pay.

It supports 4G+ with the three carrier integration (3CA) that offer speeds more than 350Mbps. The device is priced at 1999 Yuan for the 64GB storage while the 128GB storage variant costs 2299 Yuan. Along with Mi 5S Plus, the Mi 5S will also go on sale on September 29th only in China.
