The manufacturer seems to launch its devices strategically to compete with other top manufacturers like Apple and Samsung. Recently we have seen the launch of Redmi Note 3 from the Xiaomi, which has been a success and got ground of applause from the Android lovers. And now, everyone is spying at the upcoming new Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone.

Just like all other Android devices, Mi 5 may also seem to have few issues on the phone. But, as this device is not yet in the market, only a few users got hands-on this device, and we are able to find few pre-solutions to solve the issues. So, even after the launch, you could use the below solutions to solve the issues on Mi 5 device.

1. Over-Heating issue

Problem – As we all aware of the fact that, all the Android devices seem to have over-heating issues; by taking few precautionary measures we can easily resolve the issue in no time. If you got the new Mi 5 handset in your hand, you could try the below solution to resolve the issue.

Solution – There are many reasons for over-heating of the smartphone as it got equipped with various apps and features. So, at first, we need to check the software update on the phone. As this device comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and MIUI 7, the manufacturer will release the frequent software updates via OTA to resolve any minor issues. So, check and update the device by opening ‘Settings>About Phone> System Update’, or by using ‘Updater’ app under the ‘Tools’ folder. Download and install the update which can resolve the over-heating issue.

If there is no update available and the issue persists, then try to uninstall all the pre-installed apps from the device. The bloatware may cause the over-heating issue and so remove or disable them from the phone. Also, uninstall all the useless apps you have downloaded from the play store to keep the device safe.

Another task to perform by the user for resolving the over-heating issue is to remove all the widgets and Live Wallpapers from the phone as these may heat up the device. Also, avoid multi-tasking (performing various tasks on the phone at a time) on the phone as it may over-heat the phone. So, by now, the over-heating issue should have resolved.

A tip that can be useful to resolve the over-heating issue is, never use the duplicate charger for charging the device and whenever you charging the device, try to take off the case.

2. Lag in the Performance

Problem – Another important issue that worries the Android users is the lag in the performance of the device after few months of usage. The same may come up with the Mi 5 smartphone and so by performing certain tasks you can resolve the lag issue.

Solution – The first and foremost thing you can do is update the software of the phone using the ‘Updater’ app in the device. It may resolve the issue and if not try uninstalling/disabling pre-installed apps, useless installed apps, widgets and Live Wallpapers from the phone. Also, disable the animation settings to improve the performance of the phone. This can be done by enabling the developer options. Open ‘Settings>About Phone’ and tap few times on ‘Build number’ to enable the options. Now, you can see these options under ‘Additional settings.’ Open the options and scroll down to find animation options like find ‘Window animation scale,’ ‘Transition animation scale’ and ‘Animator duration scale.’ Turn them off, or reduce them to 0.5x to enhance the device performance.

If you still fail to resolve the issue then remove the cache stored in apps and device. To do so, open each app from the ‘Installed apps’ on the phone and tap on ‘Clear Cache’. Now, to clear the cache from the entire device, you need to get the phone into recovery mode. Turn off your device and start holding Volume Up and power button at the same time and release the power button after seeing Mi Logo on the screen. Keep holding the volume up button recovery mode appears on the screen. Now using volume and power buttons select and confirm ‘English’ and ‘Wipe Reset’ options. Next, go for ‘Wipe Cache’ option to remove the cache from the device. Once done, select and confirm ‘Reboot’ option and that’s it. By now, the lag in the phone should be gone as your phone is free from the cache.

If the issue persists, then to resolve it you can perform the factory reset on the phone. It will erase entire data from the phone and so take a back up of all the data before proceeding any further. Now, to perform the factory reset, get the device into recovery mode as explained above. In here, select and confirm ‘Wipe All Data’ and ‘Yes’ option using volume and power rocker buttons. Also, you can open You can also perform the factory reset by tapping on Settings>Backup & Reset>Factory Data Reset>Reset Device>Erase Everything>Ok’ on your device to perform the factory reset. Now, once done, reboot the phone and all you will have on your hands is a new phone.

Problem – Few of the users reported about the MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) connection issue with the Mi 5 smartphone. So far, we don’t know whether the issue could be seen on all the devices. But as of now only a few users seems to have the issue.

Go to ‘Settings>About Phone’ and tap few times on ‘Build number’ to enable the developer options. Once enabled, you can see these options under ‘Additional settings,’ open the options and scroll down to find ‘Select USB configuration’ and tap on it and change to charging only. Now again tap on ‘Select USB configuration’ and change it gain to MTP.

So, now connect the device to PC and start transferring files. Some users aren’t able to copy the files from device to PC. We need to wait for the software update from the Xiaomi, which should contain the fix for this issue.

4. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Connection

Problem – Some users might be facing the issues with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections on the device. It seems like they couldn’t connect to the specified network or device using the connections.

Solution – To resolve this Wi-Fi issue, try restarting the router and re-connect from the device. This should resolve the issue of Wi-Fi connection. For Bluetooth, disable all the connected devices and start connecting the devices again. Try this after rebooting the Mi 5 device and this can resolve the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections for sure.

5. Poor Battery-life

Problem – It seems like some of the users are facing the poor-battery life issue on the Mi 5 devices. There could be few reasons behind this and with few workouts you can easily resolve the issue.

Solution – Always use the original battery chargers for charging the device. Also, under ‘Settings>Additional Settings>Battery & Performance>Power settings’, make sure that ‘Balanced’ mode is enabled. Performance mode may enhance the device functionality, but it drains the battery faster. So, use balanced mode for better battery usage.
