Xiaomi Mi 5 & Mi 5 Pro FAQs – LTE Bands, Processor, Bootloader & Other Important Information



Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, introduced their latest flagship devices; Mi 5 & Mi 5 Pro, just two days back and it has seen reservation over 8 Million as of now. That’s just mind-blowing, isn’t it. Unfortunately, this booking is for only its Chinese audience, as rest of the world and India would have to wait (We can’t wait!!), as the company hasn’t given any time frame. But it has been assured by the brand that you can expect it to arrive pretty soon in other regions as well. Manu Kumar Jain, the Head of Indian Operations Xiaomi, has assured as that Mi 5 would be coming to Indian soon. If any company official’s reading this post, please let our audience know when you are going to launch it in the country.

Though, we can’t answer that question, for now, doesn’t mean we can’t make it easier for you to wait. We can, as we answer all your burning questions about the device in the FAQs below.

Question: How many colors do the Xiaomi Mi 5 would going to have?
Answer: Standard and Prime variants would be available in three color finishes, Black, White, and Gold. But the Pro variant would be available only in Black color.

Question: Does the Mi 5 support dual SIM, Dual Standby mode?
Answer: Yes, it does indeed. You can have two nano-SIM slots at a time, although, one out of two needs to be set as the main SIM card.

Question:What is the size & pixel resolution of the display on Mi 5?
Answer: The display size is 5.15-inch while the pixel resolution is at 1920 x 1080.

Question: What is the pricing of three variants of Mi 5?
Answer: The standard version will cost you 1999 Yuan while the Prime variant can be purchased for 2299 Yuan. The highest variant with 4GB of RAM and 128GB, the Pro version will cost you 2699 Yuan.

Answer: The standard and prime version weighs at 129 grams while the Pro version weighs slightly heavy at 139 grams.

Question: Does Xiaomi Mi 5 & Pro support external SD card?
Answer: No, unfortunately, it doesn’t support the expansion of storage space via microSD card slot.

Question: Can I unlock the Bootloader on Mi 5?
Answer: Yes, you can unlock the bootloader on the Mi 5 as well as Mi 5 Pro. But by default, it is locked, and it is not advised to unlock it. It is locked to protect the data security on your device. It is done to better incorporate, company’s services like “Mi Cloud”, which allows locating your device, in the unfortunate event of lost or stolen Mi device. Though, there is an app, Mi Unlock, which will unlock the bootloader on your Mi 5.
