Smartisan is a Chinese smartphone brand which doesn’t sell smartphones outside its home country. In the last two years, the company launched two flagship smartphones – Smartisan T1 and T2 along with an affordable smartphone Smartisan U1. Even before debuting the Chinese market in 2014, the company came with its own software called as Smartisan OS based on Android. Compared to its competitors, Smartisan sold its smartphones with a higher price tag by offering premium build quality and high-end specifications. Recently there are also rumors that the company will be soon acquired by Xiaomi as it lacks the funds.
Later the company officials mentioned that as baseless rumors. But in between all these, the company is gearing up to launch its latest flagship smartphone. From early 2016, there are many rumours and leaks about the company’s new device Smartisan T3. Till now, we only know the details of the device from the unauthorised sources, but today we got few details from the TENAA listing of the device along with its first look. This year, Smartisan will be launching not one but two variants of its upcoming Smartisan T3 smartphone. Both the variants come with a glossy finish black body with curved edges on the back.
All the Smartisan smartphones launched till date came with three physical buttons on the front instead of the on-screen or capacitive buttons. But the Smartisan T3 has the round shaped home button integrated with a fingerprint sensor. We can expect capacitive buttons for back and multi-tasking. However, the dual volume rockers are still present on the either side of the device. The user can customise one for volume and the other for brightness. The device might run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Smartisan OS out of the box.
The variant with the model number SM901 comes with a 5.15-inch display and a 3,000mAh battery. Whereas the other variant with the model number SM919 sports a 5.7-inch display and 4,000mAh battery. The recently launched Xiaomi Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus also came with similar screen sizes. From the images, we can see the laser autofocus for the rear camera on SM919 which is missing on the SM901. The Smartisan T3 with 5.15-inch display measures 149.36 x 71.75 x 8.22 mm and the variant with 5.7-inch display measures 159.66 × 78.96 × 8.32 mm.
Both the variants support dual SIM dual standby and offer 4G LTE connectivity. The device is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. As seen with many other Chinese smartphone manufacturers, one variant of the Smartisan T3 might feature 6GB of RAM. If the rumors are to be believed, the device will be officially launched on October 18th. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details about the two variants of the Smartisan T3 smartphone.
