Earlier this week, Apple officially launched the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus along with the Watch 2 at the Apple Special Launch Event in San Francisco. We have seen some interesting upgrades like more storage, dual cameras, new colours, IP67 certification and few others. The company also priced both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus same as the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus respectively. Even with also those efforts, few reports suggest the sales of iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus to be behind the 13 million first weekend sales of iPhone 6s & iPhone 6s Plus.
In case, if you are curious to know the first week sales of Apple iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus, then kill your curiosity as the company decided not to disclose the sale numbers. The latest smartphone sales report of the Q2 2016 revealed Apple iPhone 6s to be best selling device in the world. The company has shipped a total of 14.2 million units in the Q2 2016. Interestingly, two years old iPhone 6 is the second best selling and finally Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge settled with the third spot. The iPhone 6 with 8.5 million shipments is slightly ahead of the 8.3 million shipments of Galaxy S7 Edge.
We expect these three devices also had good sales in the Q3 2016 since there are no major launches happened. But with the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus launch, we expect a price drop on the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s plus, iPhone 6, & iPhone 6 Plus. Now the company also called off the 16GB variants of earlier iPhones and replaced them with 32GB of internal storage. Apart from the high sales of iPhone 7 devices, we can also see a bump in the sales of last generation iPhones.
Though the GalaxyNote 7 has received positive feedback from the reviewers and the customers, the device is laid back in the race with the battery explosion issue. Looking at the aftermath of Galaxy Note 7, we hope Galaxy S7 Edge to be the best selling device from Samsung. The Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus pre-orders started today while the sales start on September 16th. As there will be no official metrics, we need to depend on the third-party reports to seen the popularity of the devices. Stay tuned for more updates!
