Apple may have been the first in introducing a smartphone to the world, but it certainly is playing catch up with Google’s Android feature when it comes to its iOS platform. You might know the Cupertino giant recently revealed iOS 10, their biggest update for the mobile platform so far. At the WWDC Apple engineers showcases the demo of their latest apps for developers.
But looking at the iPhone, smartphone brands still copies the iconic design of the Apple’s smartphone. Below, we have compiled a list of smartphones that looks similar if not the same in design aesthetics.
Disclaimer: We are not claiming that these smartphones are direct or indirect copy of Apple iPhone.
Last year, HTC, the Taiwanese smartphone maker has struggled a lot to convince its fans and worldwide smartphone consumers that its flagship product, One M9 can beat the competition. But they failed to woo any general audience. That’s why company came up with a mid-range premium phone named One A9, its new handset in the A Series. If you look at it, the device remarkably looks like iPhone 6/6S, which is the most recent Apple devices.
The design similarities between the One A9 and Apple iPhone are only external, while the HTC handset sports quite different specifications. It sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED display packing in a pixel density of 441 PPI (Pixel Per Inch). There is a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage on this handset, which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card slot. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset, which is an Octa-core processor clocking at 1.5GHz. Running on the custom interface based on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it is claimed to offer up to 8 hours of talk time with the 2150mAh capacity battery.
Lenovo, the Chinese smartphone maker, which is known for its affordable range of smartphones in India, launched S90 last year in February. The Sisley S90 is a handset that clearly reminisce the design of an Apple iPhone. Take a look at the Lenovo handset in question and you’ll notice the similarity in every possible way. From antennas to the curves in edges, as well as the rear camera and LED Flash is placed on top end corner. You can also notice the volume rocker keys and power button. Though, from the front, it doesn’t exactly resemble the iPhone, while on the rear side, one could easily misunderstand it for an iPhone if the Lenovo logo is removed with an Apple branding.
Talking about the specifications of the device, it is powered by a Snapdragon 410 chipset, which is a Quad-core processor clocking at 1.2GHz. There is a 5-inch Super AMOLED display on this handset with 720p resolution. It comes with options of 1GB/2GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal storage option, which cannot be expanded further. The device is running on the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat, which makes it quite out of time. In terms of the camera department, it has a 13-megapixel image sensor on the rear and an 8-megapixel image sensor on the front for taking selfies. All this is fueled by a 2300mAh capacity non-removable battery.
Many young mobile startups look up to Apple for inspiration, and most of them deny that. One can clearly see the inspiration when you see their handsets reminisce the iPhone aesthetics. OnePlus X is one such smartphone. You can notice the iPhone design elements on the OPX smartphone, which is brought to you by the young Chinese mobile startup, OnePlus. At first look, you wouldn’t see the inspiration from iPhone. For that, you would have to look at specific parts. Such as the bottom edge has the same dual grill and centered charging connector. Further, you can see a sleek edge that almost looks straight from iPhone 5S.
Moreover, you will hardly see a proprietary button for the alert slider, which does the similar functionality of switching between sound profiles, i.e. silent, vibrate, and sound. This alert slider takes inspiration from the switch button that appears just above volume rocker keys. It is used to switch between Ring/Silent. Talking about the specifications, the device sports a 5-inch, which is almost closed to iPhone incompatibility. Powering it is the Snapdragon 801 chipset, which is Qualcomm Quad-core processor clocking at 2.3GHz. It is running on Android 5.1 operating system based interface called Oxygen OS. In the camera department, you will see 13MP on rear and 8MP on the front. All this is fueled by a 2525mAh capacity battery.
ZTE, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, had launched an iPhone lookalike smartphone in its Blade Series of handsets. The Blade S6 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch 720p display having a pixel density of 267 PPI. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 615 processor, which is a Quad-core chipset clocking at 1.7GHz. It is accompanied by Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM, while you can see 16GB of internal storage packed in the device.
It runs on custom Android skin based on the Android Lollipop 5.0.2 operating system. The connectivity options include 4G LTE support, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and microUSB port. All this is fueled by a 3000 mAh capacity battery.
ZUK is an online exclusive brand by Lenovo promoted in China and India as well. The device was unveiled by the company late last year. We have included this device in the list, mainly because it seems to take inspiration of edges straight from iPhone’s playbook. You can see the signal bands going through the bottom and top edges, which reminisces the Apple’s design. Moreover, you can see the speaker grill; it also seems inspired. The device sports a 5.5-inch IPS display with 1080p resolution and 401 PPI (Pixel Per Inch) pixel density.
The ZUK Z1 is powered by a Snapdragon 801 chipset, which is a Quad-core processor clocking at 2.5GHz. It is accompanied by Adreno 330 GPU and 64GB of internal storage, which can’t expanded as there is no microSD card slot. The device runs on Cyanogen OS 12.1, which is based on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 operating system. Regarding the camera department, the device packs a 13-megapixel image sensor on the rear and an 8-megapixel image sensor on the front. All this is powered by a 4100 mAh capacity battery.

Note that we would be updating the list as we come across any device that reminisces the look of iPhone. If you have any smartphones that can be added to this list, we would like you to give the feedback in the comments section below.
