Samsung had teased about a huge tablet called as ‘Galaxy View‘ at IFA 2015 held in early September. Finally, the Android-powered tablet was made official by he company. With such a big display, this is not the alternative for 7-inch or 10-inch tablets. At 2.65 kg, this is one of the heaviest Android tablets ever launched.
The 18.4-inch Full HD LCD display on the tablet comes with a pixel density of 119 ppi. According to the company, the display was optimized for media consumption. While pixels are visible when watching from close distance, but this is not a major issue since not many users will use it by holding with their hands.
Talking about the performance, it comes powered by the 1.6GHz Exynos 7580 octa-core processor with 2GB of RAM. It comes in 32GB and 64GB storage variants, and there is also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. There is no rear camera on this tablet but includes a 2.1MP front camera for video calls.
It has 5,700mAh battery include on this tablet that can offer 8 hours of video playback. The tablet runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of it. Apart from the Home screen, there is also dedicated screen for quick access of videos from various content providers like Youtube, Netflix, and others.
The tablet also has a single nano SIM card slot which supports 4G LTE. It comes dual 4-watt speakers that can provide stereo quality sound. Connectivity on this device includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS along with 4G LTE. As of now the tablet will be available only in Black color.
It includes a built-in handle for making this huge tablet easy to carry and with the rear faced stand the tablet cannot be laid down flat. There is no information regarding the pricing or the availability of this massive tablet, but we can expect the launch to happen soon.
