Samsung‘s upcoming smartphones are just a couple of days away from the launch. By now, we have everything about the both Galaxy S8 as well as the S8 Plus. However, that doesn’t stop the leaks from popping out. We have been reading some or the other rumors about these smartphones every single day, and today we have yet another new leak. According to the source, it looks like the upcoming Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus will have support for the fingerprint scanner gestures.

According to a new leaked image, the S8 and the S8 Plus, both will come with fingerprint scanner gesture support out of the box. Fingerprint scanner gestures have been around for quite a long time now, and there are a lot of smartphones out there in the market that takes advantage of the same. Even Google’s Pixel smartphones come equipped with a fingerprint scanner that supports device gestures. However, talking about the leaked image here, it shows options from the settings in Spanish. With the help of a translator, we find out some interesting options.

As you can see from the image that it reads ‘Gestos para sensor de huella’. Apparently, it means Gestures for the fingerprint sensor. So with this, it is at least confirmed that we are indeed getting fingerprint scanner gestures with the smartphones. Upon further inspection, as you can see that it reads, ‘abir y cerrar aplicaciones y funciones con el sensor huella digitales.’ This translates to Open and close applications and functions with the fingerprint sensor. There is also a toggle switch right next to it, and it is obviously there to help you enable or disable the setting.

Having the ability to open and close apps using the fingerprint scanner gestures may sound like a great idea, however, considering the fact that the scanner is present at the back and that too in a very awkward position, makes it even more difficult. There are chances that you may end up smudging the camera sensor while trying to use the fingerprint scanner. Hence the placement of the fingerprint scanner on this particular device has been quite controversial.

With that said, we can’t really judge the company’s decision just yet since we haven’t had a chance to hold the devices in our hands. Let’s hope that it is not that uncomfortable after all and the gestures hopefully make up for the weird scanner placement. With that said, be sure to let us know what do you think about this? Would you be interested in using the fingerprint gestures on the smartphones or not?
