It is that time of the year again when we are hit by a bunch of news about Samsung‘s upcoming flagship smartphone as we get close to the launch date. Yesterday we got our first look at the device along with some specs as well, which looks quite promising. Today we have yet another scoop about this upcoming smartphone and this time we get a fair bit of confirmation on the company’s alleged new AI assistant which they are rumored to be working on for this smartphone. It’s been a while since we first heard about this, however, according to the new report which we have, it looks like we will be seeing a new competitor to Google Assistant.

The LinkedIn profile of one of Samsung Employee named June K. Sung who is a product manager at Samsung Electronics USA refers to an AI Assistant for the upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphone. It is mentioned that manager is responsible for the “driving the execution and delivery for Samsung’s upcoming AI (Artificial Intelligence) assistant on Galaxy S8”. Well, if you are still not sure, two things are confirmed according to this posting. One is the name of the device which was not confirmed yet, and another thing is the confirmation of the existence of the company’s AI assistant.

Judging by the previous leaks and rumors, this new AI assistant is expected to be called Bixby, and it certainly looks like it will bring more functionality to the table in comparison to the S Voice. Yes, there was a feature called as S Voice in every flagship Samsung smartphone. If in case you were unaware of that, you are not the one to be blamed since it isn’t something to be particularly aware of. You can access the S Voice if you long press the home button. We expected that the alleged Bixby would be triggered in the same way. However, the removal of home button now means that you will either trigger the Assistant by voice or may a long press on the on-screen home button.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone is expected to come with in display sizes i.e. 5.8″ & 6.2″. The company is expected to launch the smartphone at an event in March with a date in April for the international availability. While none of this info is officially confirmed by the company, we do believe that the S8 will have this new AI Assistant as Samsung would try to pack this smartphone with as many features as they can. Above all, they have to put them back in the market after the Note 7 fiasco. Let us know if you would be picking up this device once it is officially launched.
