Refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 7R to Feature Smaller 3,200mAh Battery

Last year, Samsung pulled off the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone from the stores after series of explosions. Later, the in-house investigation report suggested the design fault of the 3,500mAh battery is the reason for this explosion. Earlier, we have reported about the launch of the refurbished variant of the Galaxy Note 7 in the selected markets in Asia and Europe. Though Samsung India has officially denied about this, recently, the company officially announced to bring back the refurbished units in order to control the recycling process.

According to the leaked images, the Galaxy Note 7R (a.k.a refurbished Galaxy Note 7) will come with a smaller 3,200mAh battery replacing the faulty 3,500mAh battery. Samsung had earlier launched the Galaxy Note 7 in India for Rs. 59,900, but it was not made available in the country. Now, the upcoming Galaxy Note 7R is said to be priced lower than the original variant. Apart from the smaller battery, there won’t be any changes in terms of specifications or the design of the device. It is also the first ever Note series device to come with IP68 certification making it water and dust resistant.

Apart from the fingerprint sensor and the regular security features, it also sports the IRIS sensor for the extra bit of protection. It is the same feature which was recently included in the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones. While the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones are expected to launch here in India on May 5th, we can expect some sort of information about the Galaxy Note 7R on that day. The Galaxy Note 7R runs on Android 7.0 Nougat based TouchWiz UI and comes with exclusive S-pen features.

It comes with a 5.7-inch 2K Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The device packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 or the in-house Exynos 8890 processor depending on the market conditions. On the camera front, there is a 12MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, PDAF, OIS, and dual tone LED flash. This is the same sensor that can be found on Galaxy S7 and the new Galaxy S8 devices. The company also includes a 5MP selfie camera with the same f/1.7 aperture on the front. It supports adaptive fast charging along with wireless charging.
