After the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 production is stopped, the company also refunded or replaced all the sold devices. Without any new launches, the company brought back the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge to compete against the newly launched Apple iPhone 7 and Google Pixel smartphones. It also introduced the Galaxy S7 Edge in the Pink and Coral Blue colors. While last month, there are rumors suggesting the launch of glossy finish Galaxy S7 Edge that looks similar to the JetBlack iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices. Now latest information is that the new Black color will be officially introduced on December 9th in South Korea.
Though the company launched the Black Onyx color variant at the time of initial launch, the new Pearl Black color also looks same but features glossy finish body instead of matte finish. While the recently launched Pink and Blue color variant came with 64GB of internal storage, the new Pearl Black color will be available with 128GB of onboard storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion upto another 256GB. Apart from these changes, rest of the specifications remains same as on the earlier versions. Though the company is getting ready to release the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones, the upcoming Pearl Black variant will be still running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.
Though Qualcomm introduced the upgraded Snapdragon 821 SoC that offers 10% better performance than Snapdragon 820 SoC, the company chose to use the same Snapdragon 820 SoC clocked at 2.15GHz and coupled with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. In the camera department, there is a 12MP dual pixel rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. It sports 3,700mAh non-removable battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0 for both wired and wireless charging. However, the company is yet to launch the Pink and Coral Blue color variants in the Indian market. In India, the Exynos 8890 powered Galaxy S7 Edge is available only in Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, and Silver Titanium colors.
