by Ramesh Adapa 5

OnePlus has become very popular within a short time after the release of OnePlus One. Then, after the launch of OnePlus 2, every Android user loved to use the devices. The interesting factor about the manufacturer is that it provides high-specifications at an affordable price by manufacturing good-quality products. Right after the release of OnePlus X, the number of OnePlus users increased gradually.

Recently, we received few reports from the OnePlus X users about the performance issues. This 5-inch mobile comes with powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with a clock rate of 2.3 GHz. So, we tried few things on the device and managed to increase the performance of the phone. In here, we would like to share the same tips with you using which you can easily speed up the performance of the phone in just 5 minutes.

Check for latest Software

The first and foremost thing to do by the user is to check for any latest update for the device. It comes packed with Android OS 5.1.1 Lollipop version along with Oxygen OS 2.2.0. To fix the minor bugs to enhance the device performance, the manufacturer will release the OTA’s frequently. The users get notified about the updates and if not, they can check the same manually.

Open ‘Settings>About Phone’ and look for any software updates. If you have any update available, then download and install the same using the WiFi connection as the file size will be large. The upgraded device will perform faster as it fixes the previous issues in the phone.

Enable Developer Options

The interesting thing about the newer version of Android is ‘Developer Options’. Now, the users can enable these options so as to perform the certain tasks. By default, these options cannot be seen under settings and so to enable those, you need to tap few times on ‘Build Number’ option under ‘Settings>About
Phone’. Now, the options get enabled, and you can check them under your device settings.

Open the ‘Developer Options’ and scroll down to find the animation settings where by default the points were marked to 1X. Now, you need to turn them off completely, or you can reduce them to 0.5X. Once the changes are done, you can see the difference in the performance of the phone. Also, you can revert to the old settings at anytime.

Use Performance Mode

Another feature which can speed up the device performance in the ‘Developer Options’ is the performance mode. Open the developer options as explained above and choose the ‘Performance Mode’. This will boost up your device performance, but the fact is that it will reduce the battery life. So, if you want to still gear up your device by taking the risk of battery life, then you can go for this option.

No Widgets and Live Wallpapers

All the gadget freaks love to fill the phones with the variety of widgets and Live Wallpapers. They may enhance the exterior look of the display but in fact, it affects the performance of the device. Widgets and Live Wallpapers will occupy most of the processor and as a result, it will slow the performance of the phone. So, try not to use widgets or limit them to just one or two. Try to use normal screensavers and wallpapers which can enhance the look of the display instead of Live Wallpapers. By following these precautions, you can easily speed up the performance of your phone.

Disable Pre-installed Apps

The fact that is known by almost all the Android users is that every device comes with pre-installed bloatware apps. These apps will cause the performance issue in some devices by causing over-heating and battery draining issues. So, we advise you to get rid of all such apps from your device. If you don’t find an option to uninstall them, then try to disable them.

Also, few users download various apps from the play store, out of which some apps are unnecessary. So, we recommend you to recheck the downloaded apps list and uninstall the useless apps so as to gear up to the performance of the device.

Clear App Cache and Wipe Cache Partition

It is very important to remove the cache from the device because it occupies the storage space and may cause the functionality issues. So, first of all, remove the cache of the apps and this can be done easily by opening each app from app manager and by tapping on ‘Clear Cache’. Now, your device will be cleared from the app caches. Do this regularly as it is not very complicated process.

To clear the cache from the entire device, we need to get the phone into recovery mode. To do so, turn off your device and press volume up and power button simultaneously at the same time for at least 10 seconds until you see an Android image. Then press the power button to get into recovery mode. In here, use the volume buttons for scrolling up and down, and power button for confirming the selection. So, now select and confirm ‘Wipe Cache Partition’ and after the process is done, go for ‘Reboot system Now’. That’s all; now the cache gets cleared from the device, and you can experience the better performance.

Factory Reset

In case your OnePlus X is still showcased any performance issue even after using the above methods, then you can perform the factory reset. By this, the entire data from the device gets erased, and you will have a brand-new phone. There are two ways to perform this task, one by getting your phone into recovery mode. Use the above process to turn on your phone into recovery mode and then select and confirm, ‘Wipe data/factory reset’ and ‘Yes—delete all user data’. Once the process is completed, select and confirm ‘Reboot system now’.

Another way to perform the factory reset is by opening ‘Settings>Backup & Reset> Factory data reset> Reset phone> Erase everything’. That’s all; after the completion of the process, the device will become faster in performance.

Few More Tips

Other than the above, there are few other precautions to be taken to boost up the device performance. One such safety precaution is to turn off the WiFi and Bluetooth connections whenever not in use. Also, try to adjust the brightness and rotation of the screen manually and not by enabling auto function. Always use original battery chargers for charging the device to experience the perfect battery performance.

One plus x doesn’t have a performance option or at least in my uprooted one there’s any.

    • Tommy

I don’t have this option as well… but frankly, performance of my OPX is good enough for everyday use, it is the battery life than I’m not quite happy.

      • Pedro Vilarinho

You’re right but I was wondering if I could make it better and I can’t complain myself about battery either because I charge it always overnight and it never ends up until then, I would say it can last me day and a half with moderate online gaming. Couldn’t be happier.

        • Tommy

Good for you, I usually have to charge it in the evening so I could use it until I go to sleep. I’m kind of a power user. But for the price I can’t complain.
