In less than six months after launching the popular OnePlus 3 smartphone, the company has decided to bring an upgraded variant with even better specifications. While this new device is expected to be called as OnePlus 3T, now two new devices named OnePlus Pixel & OnePlus Pixel XL are listed on the benchmarking site, GeekBench. Google has recently launched their own smartphones Pixel and Pixel XL that are manufactured by HTC. We don’t think OnePlus will be going with the same naming as Google’s smartphone. Though these listings might be false, let’s talk about the mentioned specifications. Apart from the change in names, both the OnePlus Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are listed with same processor and RAM capacity.
As seen with the Pixel smartphones, the screen size and battery capacity might be different on these devices. Both the devices are running on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. LG has launched the LG V20 as the world’s first smartphone to run on Android 7.0 Nougat, even before the Google’s Pixel smartphones. Later Google came up with their own smartphones running on Android 7.1 Nougat and also included the built-in Google Assistant as an exclusive feature. With the OnePlus in-house Oxygen OS, the device will be offering almost stock Android experience with no bloatware apps. Earlier there are few rumors that, OnePlus will be combining both the Oxygen OS and China-specific Hydrogen OS.
Under the hood, the OnePlus Pixel and Pixel XL are powered by Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor underclocked at 1.59GHz. Compared to Snapdragon 820 SoC, this new upgraded processor is said to offer 10% better performance. As seen on OnePlus 3, these two new devices also include 6GB RAM. On OnePlus 3, the company limited the potential usage of RAM to just 4GB for better battery life. The OnePlus Pixel has scored 2152 on single core test, while the OnePlus Pixel XL is slightly ahead by scoring 2298. Coming to multicore tests, the OnePlus Pixel and Pixel XL scored 5344 and 5499 respectively. While the OnePlus 3T is expected to feature the same Snapdragon 821 SoC and 6GB RAM, there are also few rumors that it might be coming with a whopping 8GB of RAM.
The Optic AMOLED display and Dash Charge fast charging technology that are popular on OnePlus 3 will be coming to OnePlus 3T as well. It is expected to come with almost similar design as OnePlus 3 with fingerprint sensor integrated into the physical home button. As most manufacturers are offering NFC mobile payments option, OnePlus might introduce this feature at least for Chinese variants. The battery capacity will be bumped up from 3,000mAh to 3,300mAh on the upcoming device. Unlike the listed OnePlus Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, OnePlus has already confirmed the upcoming device to feature Snapdragon 821 SoC clocked at 2.35GHz. Evan Blass has earlier suggested the device to costs $80 more than OnePlus 3 which was launched at $399. The device will be officially launched on November 15th.
