Obi Mobiles, which already had the presence in India has rebranded itself as Obi Worldphone. A San Francisco-based mobile brand has made the affordable flagship, the SF1 available on PayTM starting from today. The device was originally announced in August this year and since then company has been expanding its presence all over the world. From November last year, it has been exclusively sold through Gadgets 360 as the company has partnered up with them for the sale. John Sculley, co-founder of Obi Worldphone had invested $50 Million on NDTV’s e-commerce venture Gadgets 360.

There are two variants of SF1 launched today in the country priced at Rs. 9,999 and Rs 11,999. The only large difference between these two variants are in terms of RAM and internal storage. The first variant comes with a 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage while the costlier variant comes with a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Apart from the RAM and storage everything is same on these two variants. Powered by a 64-bit Octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, it clocks 1.5GHz, which underclocks the actual 1.7GHz output. Supporting the graphics on this handset is the Adreno 405 GPU, which is considered to be a good graphics unit for processing the intense games.

Sporting a unique design, the device does reminisces a look of Lumia device from the back while overall it looks like a literal fusion of Lumia and any standard Android device. Though, the company calls it a floating display design, which is crafted by a design studio based in San Francisco. The 5-inch display has a full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and moreover, it has an Oleophobic coating and Corning Gorilla Glass for protection from scratches.

Even though, it has a different lock screen, home screen and a set of unique icons to go with the look; you can still see the Stock Android elements in notifications, settings and many areas. The highly customized interface is based upon the Android Lollipop 5.0.2. It has a 3000mAh capacity battery, which supports Quick Charge 1.0 standard of Qualcomm. The storage on this thing is expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card slot.

The device sport a 13-megapixel rear camera, which is Sony Exmor sensor having aperture of f/2.0. On the front there is a 5-megapixel snapper for taking selfies. Both the cameras are accompanied by a LED flash. It sports a hybrid dual SIM slot where you can either use two SIMs at a time or a single SIM and a microSD card. The option like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, GLONASS and a microUSB 2.0 is a part of connectivity suite on this handset. The other interesting options on this handset are Dolby Audio support on its dual loudspeaker and a dual microphone for better call quality by noise cancellation.
