Microsoft has scheduled an event on October 6th for the launch of Windows 10 powered smartphones. We expect the company to launch the flagship devices, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL on that day along with Surface Pro 4 Tablet and Microsoft Band. The recent leak suggests that there might be a place for one more device at the launch event.

The entry-level Lumia 550 smartphone might be the other smartphone to unveil at the event. It comes in two variants, single SIM variant with the model number RM-1127 and the dual SIM variant with the model number RM-1128. Once launched, Lumia 550 will be the cheapest Lumia smartphone to feature 4G LTE connectivity.

Lumia 550

It comes with 4.7-inch HD (1280×720) display and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor clocked at 1.1GHz. It has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot.

Talking about the camera, it has 5MP rear camera and 1.2MP front camera, both the cameras can record videos only in 720p. With these specifications, we cannot call the Lumia 550 as a successor for the Lumia 535 that has a larger display and better front camera. The processor has been upgraded from the Snapdragon 200 with the same 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

Along with the Lumia 550, the specifications of the upcoming flagships Lumia 950 and 950XL are leaked further to the launch event. The Lumia 950 comes with a smaller 5.5-inch QHD display and Snapdragon 808 processor while the Lumia 950XL sports a 5.7-inch QHD display and Snapdragon 810 processor.

Both the devices come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage along with microSD card slot. Coming to the Camera on these devices, there will be a 20MP PureView camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. All the three devices along with Surface Pro 4 are first devices to run Windows 10 out-of-the-box. Acer has unveiled the first Windows 10 powered smartphone called ‘Acer Jade Primo‘ at the CES that held earlier this month. Stay tuned for further details about the Windows 10 powered devices that will be launched in the October 6th event.
