Android 5.0 Lollipop

An important question in most of the users mind, would be whether the device they bought, is going to get the new OS update or not. It is always good to know when the company mentions about the devices that are going to get the update, and same is the anticipation and wait for users who want to know if their device will officially receive the Android Lollipop update. This is the new OS version Google just announced, alongside the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 devices, which are both going to run the new OS out-of-the-box.

Here’s the list of the smartphones that are going to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

Please note that the phones listed below are the ones confirmed by the company, to receive the new update. Go to the end of the article to know which are the expected ones, if the trend is maintained as every year by the different manufacturers.

Motorola

LG

ASUS

The Asus Zenfone list got confirmed after an internal document of Asus leaked all the details, and the expected date for the release of Android Lollipop update for the Zenfone devices, is set for around April 2015.

Samsung

  • Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition

HTC

HTC had said back in June, that they will be issuing the new OS update to One M8 within 90 days after the release. “As part of our HTC Advantage commitment globally, we pledge to update all of our HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) smartphones within 90 days of receiving final software from Google.”

Now, their Twitter account has mentioned that both One M8 and M7 will receive the Android Lollipop update, although any approximate date hasn’t been mentioned.

Update: 24th Jan 2015: The HTC One M8 has started getting the Android Lollipop update.

Sony

This entire list of Sony phones was confirmed by Sony on their official blog, and the release would start for the core Z3 series followed by Z2 series in the beginning of 2015. The updates for other devices listed above will follow later.

Spice

Micromax

Karbonn

OnePlus

The OnePlus administrator has announced that the OnePlus smartphone will receive Android L update.

Well, we’re keen to announce today that the OnePlus One will indeed be getting the L treatment. When, you ask? That depends on Google. We promise to have it done within three months of their releasing a final build.

List of Devices Expected to get Android Lollipop Update

Out of the devices listed below (both smartphones and tablets), most of them are surely going to get the Android Lollipop update, but we just have to wait and watch until we get the official confirmation from the companies, becomes some play around with a window period and skip the update for particular devices, and we do not know which are the ones not getting an update.

Samsung

  • Galaxy S5
  • Galaxy S4
  • Galaxy Alpha
  • Galaxy Note 4
  • Galaxy Note 3

Sony

  • Xperia T2 Ultra

HTC

  • HTC One E8

LG

  • LG G3
  • LG G2
  • LG G Flex
  • LG G Pro 2

The list is going to be updated daily, with the shifts happening between the expected list and confirmed list, as and when any company announces about the future updates. For now, keep a note that not all the devices are confirmed, thus are categorized separately. But if you own one of the flagship smartphones launched in 2014, the update is almost confirmed, at least from what has been happening every year.
