After Samsung, now more and more smartphone manufacturers are trying to implement the curved display technology on their smartphones. We saw a lot of smartphones coming with curved displays like the Mi Note 2 from Xiaomi, etc. Although there aren’t a lot of curved display smartphones other than Galaxies right now, it will soon change. And one of the smartphones which will feature the curved display this year is expected to be the LG V30 smartphone.
Yes, according to the new reports which we have, it looks like the upcoming LG V30 smartphone which will be the successor to the V20 will rock a curved OLED display. According to the source, these displays will be supplied by LG Display. LG Display has been making displays for years now. In fact, the Mi Note 2 which we talked about earlier, also borrowed the display from LG Display. Although LG Display never really mass produced these curved display, it is now planning to do so.
It looks like the company is gearing up to start mass producing curved OLED screens and start shipping them to the customer this year. Also according to the internal sources, the company is planning on supplying them to LG Electronics. LG Electronics reportedly has plans to use these displays on the V30. Now if this report is something to go by, we should-should see the V30 smartphones fitted with the curved displays. This would be an interesting move from LG since they haven’t fitted any of their smartphones with a curved screen recently. The last one which we saw was the LG Flex 2, and it had a horizontal curve.
The reports suggest that these curved displays will be similar to the ones seen on the Galaxy smartphones. And not just that. LG appears to be planning to supply these displays to the next Mi Note smartphone as well, and in fact, it is also hoping to add Apple to the list of companies to which it will supply these displays. And yes, the list doesn’t end there as we recently saw that Google is also interested in procuring displays from LG for the upcoming Google smartphone.
Having said that, it looks like we will be seeing a lot of smartphones with a curved display in coming months, and hence we suggest you not to limit your options with the Galaxy S8 alone. With that said, we would like to know what do you think about this? Would you be interested in buying the next V30 smartphone with a curved display?
