LG G5 Rumored to Sport V10-like Secondary Ticker Display & IRIS Scanner

On April 28th, LG had officially unveiled their latest smartphone LG G4 through multiple launch events held in 6 different cities all over the world. With the over-heating issues of Snapdragon, the company decided to use last years Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor. Compared to the Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6, the LG G4 sales aren’t that impressive, but it had at least hold on to its position, unlike HTC and Sony, which have disappeared from the list of top smartphone manufacturers.

Now the fresh leaks suggest few feature and specifications of the upcoming flagship LG G5. Unlike the leather back on the LG G4, the G5 is expected to feature metal body with the same design language as earlier G-series devices. The secondary ticker display that was first introduced with the latest high-end smartphone LG V10 is also said to be passed over to the LG G5 and few other devices in 2016.

Apart from 5.7-inch Quad HD display, the LG GV10 also included a 2.1-inch always-on secondary display with a resolution of 1040 x 160 pixels. It is customized to show the notifications and also includes app shortcuts. The device is also rumored to sport dual rear cameras with dual LED flash, a laser autofocus, and 135-degree wide-angle lens.

The rear camera is expected to be of 16MP resolution while on the front there will be an 8MP camera. Apart from all these features, the device is said to include a ‘Magic Slot,’ which enable the device to connect with other hardware modules like VR headsets, sound amplifiers, and keyboard. On the security front, the device might have fingerprint sensor along with the rumored IRIS scanner.

If the rumored over the internet are to be believed, the LG G5 is said to include a slightly smaller 5.3-inch Quad HD display combined with a smaller ticker display. Under the hood will be the Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM for better multitasking between the apps. There will be 32GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot.

It is expected to be backed by a 2,800mAh battery that we expect to be a removable battery like what the company offered with G3 and G4. While the device is said to be launched in first half of 2016, few rumors even suggest the device to be launched at the upcoming CES 2016 which is less than a week away, so stay tuned for more updates.
