Lenovo A7000 with 5.5″ Display, 4G LTE & Dolby Atmos launched in India at Rs 8999

Lenovo A7000

Update 2, April 7th: Lenovo has just launched the A7000 smartphone in the Indian market, with the 5.5-inch 720p display and a Mediatek 64-bit processor along with 2GB RAM. This successor to the Lenovo A6000 comes with a price tag of Rs. 8999, and one of the major features of this, is the Dolby Atmos certified audio enhancement.

Update: Lenovo has just sent the press invites, and it mentions only about the Dolby Atmos speakers, clear about the A7000, though it still hasn’t been a proper confirmation whether it is only the A7000 launching in India on April 7th, when the company is going to hold an event.

Lenovo April 7th Event Invite

Lenovo has just launched the next budget 4G LTE smartphone, i.e. the successor to A6000, as the Lenovo A7000 with a 5.5-inch HD display gets official for the price of $169, at MWC 2015.

The Lenovo A7000 is powered by Mediatek MT6752m 1.5 GHz octa-core processor, which the chipset maker calls as a True8Core one, and there is 2GB RAM along with it. There is 8GB internal storage, and a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion.

Lenovo A7000 SidesThis is the first smartphone to have a Dolby Atmos technology for a better headphone experience. Along with that, the Guvera app comes pre-installed for unlimited music streaming. The phone has an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel fixed-focus front camera for selfies.

The connectivity options in the Lenovo A7000 include 4G LTE with FDD band 1, 3, 7 and 20, and TDD band 40, apart from Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and Dual SIM functionality. The Lenovo A7000 is 8mm thick, and weighs 140 gms.

The battery include in the A7000 has a capacity of 2900 mAh, and the talk time mentioned is 39 hours on 2G and 16 hours on 3G, while voice calls on 4G are not supported.

The pricing of the Lenovo A7000 is set at $169, a very good price for the specs, and we yet to confirm about the availability of this.

Lenovo has just started sending the press invites for the Mobile World Congress announcements, and surprisingly, we aren’t seeing the devices that were leaked recently, except for the Vibe S Shot, which again is a little different with the name, as what we saw in the leaks, was the Vibe Shot, a camera-centric device.

Though the details about the Lenovo A7000 and Vibe S Shot are not available, these are the two smartphones Lenovo is going to launch at the MWC 2015 event, and there are three tablet devices to be launched as well – Tab A10-70, Tab A8 and Ideapad Miix 300. Apart from these, the company is even going to announce a Pico Projector.

What we expect from the A7000, is the same 5-inch display that the A6000 had, along with LTE connectivity and some upgrade to the internal specs and the camera as well. But as said, there is no official word about the device, except for the confirmation about the launch of this device on March 2nd.

The Vibe S Shot seems to be a more interesting product right now, competing the Asus ZenFone Zoom with all focus on the camera, and if the leaks are to be believed, we might be seeing a 16-megapixel camera with OIS and triple true-tone flash on the back, and several enhancements on the software side for better captures. But again, whether Vibe Shot and the Vibe S Shot are totally different devices, is yet to be known.

We are trying to get more details from the company officials on this, but we can assure you, the A7000 is going to be another budget device with LTE connectivity, on the lines of its predecessor A6000 that was launched recently in India, for the price of Rs. 6999. Read our Lenovo A6000 review. Stay tuned for more updates on this.
