In April this year, LeEco launched their latest smartphones Le 2, Le 2 Pro, and Le Max 2 in China. The company won’t launch their successors until next year, but comes with a couple of devices as the upgraded variants. LeEco had launched the Le 1S and Le 1S Eco as the upgraded variants to Le 1. The world’s first Snapdragon 820 SoC powered smartphone, Le Max Pro came with the latest processor while rest of the specifications are same when compared to Le Max. Now the company is rumored to launch the Le 2S on September 7th in India.
It is mentioned to come in two variants where the high-end variant might feature Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor and 8GB of RAM. While the 6GB of RAM is a lot for smartphones, 8GB RAM might not show much difference when coming to the usage. An Android device with 4GB RAM still lags when compared to the iPhone 6 with 1GB RAM. Unlike Apple, Android device manufacturers don’t have the authority over the Android OS. Still, a lot depends on the software optimizations, but only increasing the RAM capacity doesn’t bring butter smooth usage.
While announcing the Snapdragon S821 SoC, Qualcomm mentioned as the new processor to offer 10% better performance over the Snapdragon 820. Currently, the Le Max 2 is powered by Snapdragon 820 SoC and includes 4GB/6GB of RAM. Just the like Le 2 and Le Max 2, the upcoming Le 2S also skips the 3.5mm audio port and comes with USB Type-C audio port backed by CDLA technology. The leaked images reveal the front of the device to looks same as the current Le 2 devices but sports bezel-less display.
As of now nothing is confirmed by the company, so take this with a pinch of salt until there is a confirmed source backing this. Apart from Le 2S, LeEco is also launching one more new smartphone under the Cool series. The Cool1 will be the first smartphone from Coolpad after its acquisition by LeEco. It also looks same as the Le 2 device from the front but sports dual rear cameras on the back. It also has fingerprint sensor placed just below the rear cameras. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based LeEco’s eUI on top.
We also expect the device to skip 3.5mm audio port and comes with USB Type-C audio port. It comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display and will be powered by Snapdragon 820 SoC and 4GB of RAM. The device is kept powered on by a 3500mAh non-removable battery. This device will be officially unveiled on August 16th in China. Stay tuned for more details!
