Huawei Mate 9 to come with Kirin 960 Chipset & Dual 20 Megapixel rear Cameras

Huawei is now all set to unveil a new smartphone in their Mate series. They have already launched a couple of smartphones like the Mate 8 etc. in this series. Now the Mate 9 will be adding onto the list. We have heard a lot of rumours about the device lately, and now we might have some confirmation on the official specs of the device. Yes, a teaser image of the device pretty much shows us that the device will run on the company’s HiSilicon Kirin 960 Chipset.

And most importantly, as rumoured this device will come with dual rear cameras as well. The device portrayed in the teaser image shows us a smartphone with dual rear cameras. And it is also mentioned as dual 20-megapixel rear cameras. Well, this is shaping up to be a great smartphone with some seriously good specs. Now we just have to wait for the final launch date of the device now, which is expected to happen sometime in by the end of the year. Stay tuned for more detailed info on this.

Earlier: There are multiple rumours about the launch of upcoming Huawei Mate 9 smartphone. It is expected by few that it will be unveiled at IFA 2016 and others are reporting it is not as likely to happen. Meanwhile, we now have few specs that are leaked, as the was spotted on GFXBench website. Looking at these specs, it appears that the smartphone will sport a 5.9-inch FHD display. It is going to be powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 2.6 GHz HiSilicon Hi3660 chipset. This is expected to be the next generation processor after the Kirin 955. It also packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.

On the camera side, we are looking at a 12-megapixel rear facing camera and an 8-megapixel front facing selfie shooter. Earlier, the rear camera was rumoured to be of 20-megapixel. It appears that this device will be running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Stay tuned for more info on this as we will update if the device is actually launched at IFA 2016.

Earlier: After unveiling the Mate S with pressure sensitive display, Huawei also launched the Mate 8 in November last year. The device came with flagship specifications build into an Aluminum build body. It is the first device to be powered by the in-house Kirin 950 octa-core processor. While the Mate 9 can be expected to launch in the second half of 2016, now the latest rumors reveal few specifications of the device.

Though it is too early to speak about the device, we are expecting Huawei to launch the Mate 9 in the second half of 2016. The device might sport Quad HD display as Huawei recently mentioned that Quad HD resolution is required for better VR experience. Recently Huawei unveiled the Kirin 955 octa-core processor as the enhanced variant of the Kirin 950. Now the upcoming Mate 9 is said to be powered by Kirin 960 octa-core processor.

While the Kirin 950 lacks the enough power to compete against the Snapdragon 820 & Exynos 8890 chipsets, we expect the Huawei to do better with the upcoming Kirin 960 chipset. The device also comes equipped with 20MP dual rear cameras. Recently launched Huawei P9 and P9 Plus came with 12MP dual rear camera. The upcoming Honor V8 that will be launched on May 10th in China also sports 12MP dual rear cameras.

As the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus came with Leica branding, we can expect the same to be repeated with the dual cameras on Mate 9. Other possible specifications seem to be 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Since the device will be launched in late 2016, we guess the Mate 9 to run on Android N out-of-the-box. The fingerprint sensor can be expected on the rear of the device.

Since the above mentioned details are based on rumors, we can expect few changes in the final device. Stay tuned for more updates!
