Alongside the Desire 820 and 820q, HTC has officially launched the Desire 816G smartphone in India, and this too is a 5.5-inch smartphone with some specifications lower than that in the Desire 820. This is yet another device in the phablet series from HTC, just like a few others with large screens, but this time the pricing is not really high, compared to the smartphones the company has been releasing in the recent past.
The Desire 816G name is given for the reason that it has the GSM connectivity and this is a Dual SIM smartphone with a quad-core processor (Mediatek MT6582) clocking at 1.3 GHz and 1GB DDR3 RAM. The internal storage in the Desire 816G is 8GB and there is an option to expand the storage with a 32GB MicroSD card.
The rear 13-megapixel camera of the Desire 816G is capable of capturing videos of 1080p Full HD resolution, and it has a 28mm wide lens. The front 5-megapixel picture too can capture 1080p videos with the BSI sensor. The rear camera comes with HTC Zoe and automatic video highlights. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC Sense layered over it, and HTC Blinkfeed included.
Two Nano SIM cards can be inserted and there is a 2600 mAh battery in the device. “The HTC Desire 816G dual sim brings an exciting combination of big screen, great specs at an amazing price!” said Faisal Siddiqui, Vice President & Country Head, India at HTC. “It is one of the most well-built and best design smartphone with a powerful specification that makes the HTC Desire 816G dual sim even more compelling. It is bringing genuine choice to the category by delivering stunning design and high-end performance at unbelievable value.”
The Desire 816G has three sensors: Accelerometer, proximity sensor and Ambient light sensor. There’s digital compass as well as Internal GPS antenna for the location services. The sound enhancement in the device is with the BoomSound speakers with the dual front stereo speakers. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 18,990.
