HSL Mobile has launched a smartphone called HSL Y501 Plus in India. It is priced at Rs. 3,999 and offers HammerScreen that can protect the device from drops and scratches. The company is also offering 100 days of warranty against the HammerScreen. At such a low price, the device can be highly recommended for those who are looking for a ultra-low cost smartphone with compromising over the specifications.

It sports a 5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480) IPS display with a pixel density of 233 ppi. The device comes powered by a MediaTek quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. There is 1GB of RAM and out of the 8GB of internal storage only 6GB can be accessed by the user, but HSL offers a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion upto 32GB. The device offers dual SIM dual standby support but lacks the 4G LTE, which we can’t even expect at this price.

The only bad thing is that it still runs on the outdated Android 4.4.3 Kitkat, there is no information regarding the release of Lollipop update. The rear camera on this device comes with a 5MP sensor with an LED flash and autofocus, while on the front is a 2MP selfie shooter with fixed focus. It is backed by a 2,000mAh removable battery that can give 10 hours of talk time nad lasts upto 150 hours on standby.

With the thick bezels around the display, the Y501 Plus measures 145.5 x 73 x 9 mm and weighs around 143 grams.  Connectivity options include 3G HSPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and a MicroUSB port. According to the company, the device supports 21 Indian regional languages, and the package also includes a flip cover for free of cost. It is available in White and Black colors and is sold exclusively through Snapdeal.
