Gionee to announce Gionee S9 with Dual rear cameras on November 15th

Gionee S9 was spotted on TENAA a few days back now Gionee has started sending invites and the device will be announced on 15th in November. This device will be sporting a Dual camera setup on the camera (13MP + 5MP) while on the front there is a 13MP camera. The pricing and other specifications of this device will be revealed at the announcement event, and the Gionee S9 will be the successor of the Gionee S8 that was launched earlier this year.

The Gionee S9 will come with a 5.5-inch FHD display with 2.5D curved glass and will be powered by a 3000mAh battery on the back. The device will come out of the box with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with Amigo OS 3.2 on top. Under the hood, there is a 1.8GHz Octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor accompanied with Mali T860 GPU and 4GB of RAM. There also a fingerprint sensor to enhance the security levels of the device.

Earlier: November 7th, 2016: Recently, Gionee had launched a new flagship smartphone called as Gionee S8 at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona. Later the same device launched in China and is priced at 2299 Yuan and available in Rose Gold, Shining Gold and Deep Space Grey color variants. Now, the company is going to launch a new device soon called as Gionee S9, which is listed on the TENAA with two model numbers such as Gionee S9 & Gionee S9T. It will be a successor to the previously launched Gionee S8 smartphone.

According to TENAA certification page, the Gionee S9 & Gionee S9T models will have the similar specifications except processor clocking speed and handset weight. It will sport a 5.5-inch IPS screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution that will offer a 401ppi of pixel density. Under the hood, it comes packed with an octa-core processor with different clocking speeds like 1.8GHz on Gionee S9 model while 2.0GHz on Gionee S9T model. It will be powered by Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

There will be a 64GB of internal storage which will further be expanded via microSD card slot up to 128GB and coupled with 4GB of RAM. It will power the handset is a 3000mAh capacity battery, which we can expect it will last more than a day of normal usage. It will support dual SIM dual standby and carries 4G VoLTE network. The other connectivity options include 3G HSPA+, EDGE / GPRS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, FM Radio, and 3.5mm audio jack.

Regarding the camera, the Gionee S9 smartphone will feature the dual rear camera that 13-megapixel and a 5-megapixel image sensor with LED Flash. On the front, there will be an 8-megapixel secondary camera for capturing selfies and video calling. The rear camera can capable of recording the videos up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. Measuring the device dimensions are 154.2 x 76.4 x 7.44 mm and will be weighing around 166.5 grams on Gionee S8 model while on Gionee S9T model will be 200.8 grams.

As of now, there is no information on when this handset will launch in China. Recently, this brand has launched a new device in the P-series in India is called as Gionee P7 Max. It is priced at Rs. 13,999 and came with 5.5-inch HD display, 4G LTE, MediaTek MT6595 Octa-core 2.2GHz processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, 3150mAh Battery and 13MP/5MP rear & front camera.   • No info on SoC yet! If has SD821, and the camera is at par with other dual camera devices like Honor 8, Mi Note 2 then excellent!

    • Helio P10 like UMiPlus, can it compete with the UMiPlus! This has dual camera unlike UMIPlus but smaller battery!

    2299 RMB for P10 seems overpriced, we have seen Mi 5S with SD821 having similar price. Don’t know how they are gonna sell these devices.
